Last week on FYFA (and in my life):
So, yesterday was my birthday, and I had a great day! (And, yes, for those of your who are confused, I accidentally said in last week’s Sunday Post that yesterday was my Blogoversary. That’s what I get for cutting and pasting—means I can’t even get my own birthday right!) Anyway, my kids had their final swim meet of the season yesterday (which is still going on today—I’m typing this while I’m waiting to go do my timing job, and I’m guessing this post is going to end up going up late because I don’t think I’ll be able to finish in time). Then, in the evening, my husband, my mom and I went out to dinner. I stuffed myself way too much, as is required on your birthday!!
Not much else is new this week. I had to do an hour-long deep cleaning at the dentist, which was made much more pleasant by listening to the super adorable Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. I still have another hour-long session for the other side of my mouth, so I’m glad I’m able to pass the time in a less miserable way with audiobooks!

Next week on FYFA:
I was going to do some planning for my birthday/blogoversary giveaway, but being sick has thrown me off. Hopefully I’ll get something up next week, but I had a thought in my head about something good and haven’t had a chance to work on it, so … I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet.

Oh, hahahah! I RT’d your blog anniversary tweet. ^.^ Happy Birthday! Ugh. Those deep cleaning sessions terrify me. Because the last one I’ve was so traumatizing, I’d asked my dentist to see me every four months. Thank God for hubby’s dental coverage!
Anyway, have a great week, Nicole!
Yeah, I couldn’t believe I listed my own birthday wrong!
Happy birthday! I’m glad you had a good dinner and that you’re reading Simon Vs. I love that book.
I finished it yesterday—definitely loved it!
Boy you had a busy week. I hate when I have to get dental work done. I always think of pain. Hope things get better.
Grace @ Books of Love
The dentist is no one’s favorite place, that’s for sure!
Happy Birthday!!Yay for a good dinner out. Have a great week!
Thanks, Grace!
Happy birthday again! I’m glad you had a great day! It’s always required to stuff yourself with food on your birthday, Lol. That’s just the way of things.
And I’ve never thought to listen to audiobooks while at the dentist. Hmmm. I should see if I can do that next time!
I hadn’t thought of it either, but my husband told me he listened to podcasts during his appointment and I decided he was brilliant! Dentist appointments are so much better with a book!
I’m so happy you had a wonderful dinner with your family! Uhhhh what in the world is a deep cleaning at the dentist?! That sounds beyond terrifying or painful, I can’t decide between the two! But thank goodness for audiobooks to help pass the time!
It was definitely unpleasant, but not as bad as a filling, actually.
Nice! Glad to hear it was a good week! Minus a dentist appointment! Lol! Hope you enjoy your mystery reads! Lol! Good luck at the swim meet!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
That’s right, I was just trying to extend the mystery. 🙂
Happy Birthday! I’m glad you had a nice time. Ooh listening to an audiobook does sound like a nice way to pass time at the dentist.
Dentists are WAY better with audiobooks!
I would totally pre-order Riveted, except I just don’t have any use for a poster as much as I do want it! Happy belated birthday and blogoversary! I’m sorry I missed it. I subscribe by email so I don’t know why I didn’t notice that post! Hope you have a good week!
I thought I was the only one who doesn’t love swag. There have been a few times when I’ve been tempted by pre-order deals, but most of the time I’m not interested. I tend to just throw bookmarks and such in a drawer. I feel a little guilty about that. 🙁
I love finding new books and bloggers to read in lists like this! TY!
You’re very welcome! I always include this sort of list in my Sunday Posts because I love spreading the word!!
Happy (belated) birthday! Sounds like you had a wonderful dinner out. Great idea to listen to an audiobook while at the dentist. Although I’m not sure even Simon can help make a deep cleaning better. *cringe* Hope you’re feeling better this week, Nicole!
Well, the dentist with an audiobook sure was a whole lot better than without!!

Admit it. You did it on purpose. Got rid of all the other birthdays and blogoversaries this week, so you would be able to shine ;D.
OK, happy belated birthday! for real. And thank you for your useful weekly recaps. I used to participate in TSS by cheating – that is, doing a monthly recap instead of a weekly one – and only lasted 3 months. I don’t know where you find the time and energy to do this every week!
You caught onto my evil plan, huh? 😉
I actually have a pretty good system for the Sunday Posts, and it doesn’t take me as long as it used to. And I really do love spreading the news about all this great stuff around the blogosphere!
Happy Birthday! And thanks for putting this post together, it’s awesome 😀 Have a lovely week!
Brittany @ Brittany’s Book Rambles
I’m glad it’s helpful! I love putting together these Sunday Posts!
How do I get a deep cleaning? Seriously, my dentist works on me for 30 minutes and then it’s up and out. Happy birthday!! It sounds like you had a good night.
My dentist said that I needed a deep cleaning because I have too deep of pockets in my gums. It was very expensive and not particularly pleasant so I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t need it. I think I’d prefer the 30 minute cleaning. 🙂
