Top Ten (Million) Backlist Books I Want to Read

Top Ten (Million) Backlist Books I Want to Read

Top Ten Tuesday 43

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Backlist Books I Want to Read I really will only post ten, even though I could easily choose about a million (as the title to this post implies). For this list, I’m only using books that are over two years old. Just because. And only books I own. The list could still be MUCH longer. 1.Truthwitch by Susan Dennard Susan Dennard’s writing resources are amazing, and I own her books. Why haven’t I read her yet? There is no logic that can explain it. 2. Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes Another author I’ve inexplicably never read even though I’m pretty sure I’d love her books. 3. The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner I might lose blogger friends if I don’t read this soon—specifically, Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight. I mean, she’s been patient with me,… Read more »

Top Ten Favorite Authors I Need to Read More!

Top Ten Favorite Authors I Need to Read More!

Top Ten Tuesday 50

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. I loved doing TTT last week, and this week’s topic was just as fun so I thought I’d jump in again! Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Books By My Favorite Authors That I Still Haven’t Read Honestly, there are TONS of books by Shusterman, that I haven’t read because he is such a prolific author (He has 35 books listed on his website!!). But these are just the books, I haven’t read yet that I actually own and I should have read by now. (Actually, now that I think about it, I should have added The Schwa Was Here to these as well.) Books I have read by Shusterman: The Unwind Series – 4 books and a novella (My all-time favorite series!!) except UnBound, for some reason—it’s a collection of short stories in the Unwind world. Scythe Challenger Deep The Skinjacker Trilogy Even though… Read more »

Top Ten Books on My Fall TBR

Top Ten Books on My Fall TBR

Top Ten Tuesday 58

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. It’s been a while since I’ve participated in TTT, so I thought I’d jump in this week. Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Books on My Fall TBR For this, I’m using books that are releasing this fall, even though I’ll probably be reading some backlist books as well. (I’m listing this in order of release date.) 1. Storm Runner by J.C. Cervantes This one releases today! I loved the first book from this imprint, so I’m ready to jump into this one!!! 2. Wildcard by Marie Lu I finally read (technically, listened to) a Marie Lu book!! And I really liked it! So, since I recently read Warcross, it makes sense that I should jump into Wildcard very soon. (This one came out today, too.) 3. Dry by Neal Shusterman Do you see Neal Shusterman’s name on the book? That is all the explanation you… Read more »

Top 10 Writing Tips I Learned at WIFYR

Top 10 Writing Tips I Learned at WIFYR

Let's Discuss, Top Ten Tuesday, WIFYR, Writing Tips 26

I took in a lot of fantastic writing advice at the WIFYR conference. I thought I’d share my some of the lessons I learned with all of you. All of these came from the breakout sessions or keynotes. I tried to keep these specific to writing advice rather than publishing/querying advice, but I’ll probably do another post with some great points that were made when it comes to querying! Top 10 Writing Tips I Learned at WIFYR Books are made in revision, and you can’t revise nothing. So write! This is a quote from Trent Reedy’s revision class and it’s pretty simple, but also really profound. So often we want to get things right the first time around, and we can be so focused on perfection that we don’t end up really accomplishing anything at all. You can’t revise what you don’t write! Trent also talked about the importance of having… Read more »

Top 10 of 2017: Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2018

Top 10 of 2017: Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2018

Let's Discuss, Top Ten Tuesday 22

I’m a day late with this one, but I decided to post it anyway. This is the last post of the Top 10 of 2017 Event, which was hosted over at Kimberlyfaye Reads. TOP TEN BOOKS I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2018 I’m only including books from the first half of the year because I could easily come up with 10, just from those first six months. These are listed in order of release date. 1. The True Queen by Sarah Fine If I hadn’t done this post, I actually wouldn’t have even realized that this book was being released tomorrow!! I loved the first two books in this series—how could I have missed this last one’s release? 2. Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman Um, this is Neal Shusterman. Do I have to say more? 3. Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner I didn’t know until relatively recently (within the past few… Read more »

Top 10 of 2017: The Best of 2017!!

Top 10 of 2017: The Best of 2017!!

Let's Discuss, Top Ten Tuesday 36

I’m participating in the Top 10 of 2017 Event, which is being hosted over at Kimberlyfaye Reads. Each day has a different top ten list associated with it (you can see the list in the image above). You can choose to complete some or all of the lists. Feel free to join in at any time! FAVORITE BOOKS I READ IN 2017 I cheated and split this into two categories (and it was still hard to pick just 10 in each, especially in the fantasy category since I read so many of them!) CONTEMPORARY: Love, Hate & Other Filters by Samira Ahmed I actually haven’t even reviewed this one yet, and it isn’t published until January, but I feel like if I leave it off the list, it will never get the recognition it deserves (by next year’s list, it will have been a very long time since I read the book)…. I’m participating in the Top 10 of 2017 Event, which is being hosted over at Kimberlyfaye Reads. Each day has a different top ten list associated with it (you can see the list in the image above). You can choose to complete some or all of the lists (I’m not sure yet if I’ll be doing them all). Feel free to join in at any time! TOP TEN COVERS OF 2017 I’m pretty sure all of these were actually 2017 releases. I actually forgot to look at that at all when I was putting this together, so it’s just lucky that all the prettiest ones were new releases!   What were your favorite covers of 2017? I want to know!

Top 10 of 2017: Best Boys in Books

Let's Discuss, Top Ten Tuesday 22

I decided to participate in the Top 10 of 2017 Event, which is being hosted over at Kimberlyfaye Reads. Each day has a different top ten list associated with it (you can see the list in the image above). You can choose to complete some or all of the lists (I’m not sure yet if I’ll be doing them all). Feel free to join in at any time! TOP TEN MALE CHARACTERS I READ IN 2017 I switched this topic up a bit. Instead of specifically listing best book boyfriends, I decided just to list my favorite boys in books (of course, those lists often overlap, but not always). Just like with yesterday’s list, I’m using books that I read in 2017, not necessarily books that were published in 2017. 1. Broody McHottiepants from Brooding YA Hero: Becoming a Main Character (Almost) as Awesome as Me It should be quite obvious why… Read more »

Feel free to join in at any time! TOP TEN FEMALE CHARACTERS I READ IN 2017 I’m using books that I read in 2017 for this list, not necessarily books that were published in 2017. 1. Iku Kasahara from Library Wars I mean, she’s fighting for life, liberty and the pursuit of reading. What else could you possibly want? 2. Meg from Etched in Bone Meg is one of my all-time favorite characters, and the latest book is no exception. She’s got a great balance of strength and vulnerability. And… Read more »

Top 10 of 2017: New-to-Me Authors

Let's Discuss, Top Ten Tuesday 48

I decided last minute to participate in the Top 10 of 2017 Event, which is being hosted over at Kimberlyfaye Reads. Each day has a different top ten list associated with it (you can see the list in the image above). You can choose to complete some or all of the lists (I’m not sure yet if I’ll be doing them all). Feel free to join in at any time! TOP TEN NEW-TO-ME AUTHORS 1. Rae Carson I jumped into the Gold Seer Trilogy two years late. Now I just need to read that final book! 2. Jason Reynolds I read two books by Jason Reynolds this year (both in verse) and really enjoyed both of them. I was introduced to him with Long Way Down, which was a HUGE favorite for me! 3. Becky Albertalli I finally joined the rest of the world and read Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens… Read more »
