This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
My MG bookcase is coming along very nicely. I still have some random books on the bottom shelf (and some adult classics on top, which will probably stay there), and I still have some more MG books floating around the house, but I’m pretty happy with the way this bookcase is turning out. Take a look:
More track meets this week. My daughter Danielle managed to get her PR in high jump at 4’5″ on Thursday. I’m kind of in awe of her–not because she’s a top athlete necessarily (she placed 5th at our conference meet for JV)–but because she goes out every day and does something that scares her. She’s actually really scared to jump backward over the bar at those heights and she has to force herself to do it, especially at practices. Same went for gymnastics–she had to constantly talk herself into jumping to the high bar or doing round-off flip-flop flip-flops. But where I would naturally just avoid something that scares me, she keeps doing it day after day after day. Especially for a kid who struggles with anxiety issues, I think that’s pretty impressive.
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

The shelf looks great! Congratulations to your daughter! I remember learning how to jump hurdles in gym class, and I was terrified that I was going to wipe out. I’m not athletic at all. I never crashed into a hurdle, but a few of my classmates did.
I’m not athletic either, and I never attempted jumping a hurdle, but I’m pretty sure I’d be terrified!
thanks so much for the mention. have a great week.
You’re welcome!
Loving the MG bookshelf! Looks great! I want to spend time organizing my shelves so bad, but since I’m hoping to move this summer, I’m making myself wait until then. Will they still be doing a giveaway for A Place for Wolves? I heard they’d pulled the publishing on it due to some controversy, the author pulled it supposedly. I still intend to read it though. I’ve included the link to my weekly giveaway below in case any one who reads this wants to enter! 🙂
Good point about A Place for Wolves. The probably pulled that giveaway. I’ve been trying to remember to add your weekly giveaway in each week, but feel free to point it out if I miss it! 🙂
The MG shelf is coming up nicely!! And wow. Your daughter’s got guts! I (thankfully) was excused from doing those high jump things when they popped up in PE class. After having assorted leg surgeries and a back surgery throughout childhood, those kinds of things I can’t fathom doing. My body wouldn’t twist right!
I hope you enjoying your reading picks for this week!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Wow, it must’ve been tough dealing with all those surgeries as a kid.
I was never as fearless as your daughter. Good for her! And your shelves look lovely. Nice job!
I’m a total wimp–I don’t know where she gets it from! 🙂
Your MG shelf looks so pretty. *.* Congrats to your daughter for not giving up. That’s amazing! I’ve always been terrified of high jump – I could never jump in PE class. I was so happy when I was finally excused from it.
Wishes of a happy week! 😉
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
I couldn’t do half of what she does. I was terrified to even do a ropes course, and I had a harness on!
Your kid is awesome, and I love how proud you are of her <3
(and that bookcase looks fantastic)
Thanks! She is pretty awesome. 🙂 (All my kids are.)
Your bookshelf looks so pretty, I love it! And wow, your daughter is impressive! I’m the same as you lol. If it scares me then I’ll gladly avoid…..unless my kids are doing it then I don’t have a choice and join in. The joys of being a mom ha!
Yeah, I did a ropes course with my kids—I was terrified!
Love your new bookshelf! Hope your daughter does well during her practice!
Thank you!
Your shelves are looking awesome! Kudos to your daughter for pushing past her fears. I wish I could say I was like that but I’m more likely to back away than force myself. Thanks for the blogoversary mention. I actually remembered on my own this year *before* seeing it here! LOL
Ha! Good job remembering! (I have to admit that I think it’s kind of fun when someone says they would have otherwise forgotten–I’m a reminder service for the book blogging community. LOL!)
Man, I’m in awe of your daughter too. That’s amazing she does it even though she’s scared. Good for her!! I love your bookshelf; looks great. 🙂
-Lauren
Yeah, I totally would’ve given up a long time ago, but she just doesn’t. I think she gets that tenacity from her dad—he ran a marathon, which is just insane to me. 🙂
That bookshelf looks amazing!
Thank you!
Oh wow, look at that book shelf! It looks amazing! Love all you have on your Sunday post! Thank you! Take care!
I’m glad you find my Sunday Post helpful!!
