This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
It finally seems like my daughter is doing better after her accident. Monday was a horrible night—it ended with her throwing up repeatedly for an hour and a half and then us going to the ER again (on recommendation from our regular doctor). But then she got better and we ended up leaving because the ER was packed and some people said they’d been there for over 5 hours and hadn’t been seen yet! I figured it was better to go home and let her get some sleep and get to our doctor first thing in the morning, which turned out fine. Anyway, she seemed to turn a corner on Tuesday night/Wednesday and she’s actually acting more like herself, going to classes, and eating relatively normally. She also started using her crutches instead of the walker, which is much faster! She goes in for surgery on Tuesday, so hopefully the recovery for that won’t set her back too much.
Not much else to report. Not surprisingly, it feels like her health has mostly taken over lately with all the doctor appointments (we’ve been to the ER or the doctor nine times over the past few weeks) and just taking care of her.

Oh hey! I totally would have forgotten my blogoversary this year if not for you! 😀 thank you for remembering for me! <3
You’d be surprised how often people tell me that! LOL!
All this time in the ER must be really stressful for you. I am happy to hear it seems like your daughter is on the mend. How fun to see Rick Riordan. My daughter and I were just talking about what an awesome human he is.
Yes, I’m hoping we don’t see the inside of an ER for QUITE some time now!
I’m glad to hear your daughter is doing better after the accident. Hope she recovers fast from the surgery. <3
Happy readings! 😉
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
Thank you!!
Sending good vibes for your daughter’s surgery! I hope it will be smooth sailing for her from here on out.
Thank you!!
Glad to hear she is doing better. The ER is never a fun place to visit and it always takes forever to get in and out of that place.
So true! I’ve spent way more hours in there than I’d like!!
I’m so happy to hear your daughter has been feeling better, I’m sending her all the good vibes for the surgery and hope you’ll both have a good week <3
Thank you so much!!
What a week you’ve had… I am so glad your daughter is doing better! And that is so cool that you got to go see Rick Riordan! I got The Tyrant’s Tomb last week too!
The Rick Riordan event was so fun! He also showed some promo videos that they made for Rick Riordan Presents books—they were really hilarious!!
So scary about Jade! My goodness, a concussion is nothing to play around with. Thank goodness she has seemingly turned a corner. I hope that Tuesday’s surgery goes well!!
Yes, the concussion has made life a lot more difficult than the broken ankle did. Hopefully we’re past the worst of it!
Sorry to hear about your daughter’s troubles with the aftermath. I hope things get better after the surgery and that she continues to recover well.
Nice new read! I’ve never read this author, but have heard good things! I hope you enjoy (or enjoyed!) it!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Thanks. I’m really hoping that things settle down here soon.
Oh no. That’s tough, and the worst is the throwing up part. I hope she’ll heal soon and well.
I started reading Percy Jackson last week and enjoyed the first book. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of his books.
I hope you and your family will have a great week, Nioole.
Yes, I’m hoping we’re past the nausea now—it does seem to be looking that way (but we had a bit of a lull earlier that tricked us too!).
I’m glad to hear your daughter is doing better! I hope the surgery goes well also, and that things start normalizing for your whole family. <3
Thank you! Everything seems to be going smoothly so far post-surgery.
Hopefully your daughter is continuing to do better. I’ll keep her in my thoughts!
Thank you! So far, so good after the surgery.
I know we were all saying she was lucky it wasn’t worse but it’s till turning out to be quite the ordeal for her. Hugs to all of you!
Was she sick from meds?
My SIL just had major surgery and then had a reaction to and wasn’t able to take pain meds which was awful.
Karen @ For What It’s Worth
She was only on strong meds while she was at the hospital, so the doctors don’t think that’s what it was. They think she was having nausea related to the concussion. She randomly threw up one more time in the middle of the night right before surgery, but luckily they didn’t have to delay because of it. She seems to be feeling a lot better right now.
Wow, your life does not sound fun right now. I hope your daughter’s surgery goes smoothly!
Thanks, it did! (For once, something went well with this process—though she did throw up the night before, making us fear they might cancel.)
Very happy to see that she is starting to do better – and hope the surgery goes well too. 🙂
Thanks! Surgery did go well and hopefully she’s now on her way to recovery!
I hope Jade’s surgery went well and that she’s starting to feel better! Hopefully things will settle down a bit more. 🙂
-Lauren
Thanks—it seems like she’s doing a lot better lately!
