This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
Happy Father’s Day to all you dads and to all the dads in your lives! I’m so thankful to have a husband who is also an absolutely fantastic father!
Here’s what else we’ve been up to this week:
- We watched:
- My daughter Danielle and I have been watching On My Block and we’re loving it. The season one finale cliffhanger was killer!!!
- My husband and I watched a bit more of Ozark.
- As far as my reading goes…
- Um, I read like a quarter of a book this week and listened to a bit more of White Fragility. Not a great reading week (month? year?).
- We bought a new (used) entertainment cabinet for the family room and some nice wood gates to help corral the puppy. The cabinet needed a little bit of TLC and some reconfiguring (we wanted shelves in it rather than space for a TV, we had to add a new back, and we did some fixes to the finish), but it’s beautiful solid wood, so it was worth it! I now have closed-door space to put random school stuff and paperwork, etc.
- Puppy! I know you all want to see pics of the pup. He’s getting bigger!

Oh, yes, when I HAVE been reading, I’ve been so moody about it. Ugh!
I love the cabinet. It’s always nice to have more spaces to store things. I’m always up for puppy pics.

That cabinet is beautiful. It’s so hard to find high quality furniture. My dresser is so old, but my dad refinished it, and it’s stunning. If you have the skills, it’s worth restoring old pieces. I feel like if you don’t have a mint to spend, you can’t get anything good.
Yes, I spent a long time looking for just the right piece of furniture for this spot—so many cabinets we looked at were too deep and would block the TV. When I found this one, it seemed well worth it to fix it up.
Yeah my reading this week wasn’t so hot. It’s the first week…oh god, probably since I started my blog, that I didn’t finish a single book. Not to any reason of a bad book, but just time. Starting a new job was exhausting and time consuming so I didn’t have much energy for reading after hours. Then I had family in town this weekend, so I didn’t get any reading done then either. Hopefully I’ll finish this book this week though!
Nice new read too! It’s new to me but I hope you love it once you read it!

Puppy! He is so cute! Yeah, this year has not been a great year for reading. I actually started out pretty strong and I was sure I was gonna make my goal of reading 100 books this year. But then March came around and I’ve been in a slump on and off and I’m 7 books behind schedule according to Goodreads ?♀️?
Yeah, the last few months have been dreadful for me when it comes to reading. I just can’t seem to stick with a book. It’s frustrating because this is NOT normal for me at all.
It seems like a lot of people are feeling slump lately and not doing a lot of reading. Hope that passes quickly! Nice on the new entertainment center and making it work for your needs!
Yeah, it’s good to know that I’m not alone in this slump boat, but it’s definitely weird for me. I’ve never had such an extended period of time where I couldn’t seem to force myself to read or blog!
Why am I seeing NO MENTION of The 100 Season 7?!?! I sob. But glad you’ve been finding good stuff to watch with your family! Also PUPPY! He is just so stinking cute, and this is exactly how I like my puppies- adorable, and cared for by someone else ?
I know! It’s been super sad, but my TV time has pretty much been spent with family and no one else wants to watch The 100 with me. I think you need to give them a good talking to. I’ve literally been looking at your blog every couple of days thinking, I can’t read ANY of these posts yet!!! It’s making me more than a little crazy!

Oh, that’s a good idea. My daughter and I have been creating a One Second Everyday video so we can see him grow up in fast forward. I definitely need to do a side-by-side before-and-after shot.

Thank you! The cabinet was a decent amount of work because it had some scuffs (and marks where a puppy had chewed it!), but it was well worth it!
