Sunday Post: Book Pre-order Campaigns & Giveaways Galore – 8/23/20

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

  • We brought my daughter Jade to college! It’s official—she’s there. She’s majoring in AI, with plans to get a master’s in Data Science. I’m both incredibly proud of her and sad to see her leave!
    • We’re nervous about how everything’s going to work with COVID (they already have the first two weeks all completely online for people who need to quarantine because they’re traveling from high-risk states), but I guess we shall see!
    • Seeing your first kiddo off to school is HARD! (I’m guessing it will be just as hard when the next one leaves.)
  • We watched:
    • My daughter Danielle (and my son, Noah, who has joined us in watching) and I are almost caught up on season 7 of The 100!
  • We painted and moved stuff. As I mentioned last week, my younger daughter moved into Jade’s room. But first we gave it a complete makeover. The room used to be blue with RED trim and the ceiling was dark blue with yellow stars—as you can imagine, it was quite the job to paint the whole thing!! (For the record, we had offered in the past to redo the room for Jade, but she was never particularly interested. She thought of her room as a place to sleep and not much more—Danielle is the complete opposite!) We put the finishing touches on today, which is why this post is once again going up late. Here are some pics so you can see the transformation (new bedding is still forthcoming—oh, and we painted the bed last week, so that was a cool project that paid off!):

  • Reading
    • I read Cookie Cutters and Sled Runners (and already posted my review, along with Natalie Rompella’s Top Ten Addictions!).
  • Digit! I love this little fluff, but he’s definitely getting wilder and wilder. I look like an abuse victim or something because of all the bruises and scrapes on me—he gets into attack mode pretty regularly. Hopefully we can get some more training in soon. We tried to go to our first training class today, but apparently the vaccination documentation I had wasn’t right, so we couldn’t participate. Hopefully we’ll have all that worked out for next week. I surprisingly didn’t take that many pictures of Digit this week (gasp!), but his ears keep shifting up and down—it’s pretty funny. Here’s one pic of Digit and one of Bella enjoying “her” new bed.

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

  1. I cried buckets when I left my kid at SU, but I cried even more when I left her in Chicago. I can totally relate with you about that, so ((HUGS)). I hope Jade enjoys being at school, and AI is so interesting. I like the color your other daughter chose. It’s very calming.

  2. Gah Nicole you are a stronger person than me, I’d be laying somewhere sobbing, I umm don’t handle change well. But you should of course be so proud of her! I gotta say, I loved the stars on the ceiling, but the new color is really pretty too! And the bed looks awesome! Also is Danielle usually this tidy? If so, can she come teach my kids? Hope Jade is doing well at school too, the Covid situation is definitely an added stress for you all! And the pups are cute as ever!

  3. I hope Jade enjoys college, I don’t think it’ll get easier to see any of your kids off to college but I suppose it makes you even more nervous considering the crazy times we’re currently living through. There’s a lot more unknowns. I’m sure she’ll have a great time. I’m so impressed with the bedroom makeover, what a transformation! I imagine a lot of paint was used but it looks amazing.

  4. Aw, I hope that Jade has a fantastic time at college. I’m sure it was tough leaving her there though. The room at home is looking great, and I love all the dog photos. I have scratches all on my hands/arms and legs/feet from my cat, so I feel the pain. Literally. 😉

  5. Ahh I hope Jade will have a lovely time at college and will settle in well <3 And the room looks FANTASTIC, wow what a big job to get all this painting done ahah, you should be proud of the result 😀
Have a wonderful week and take care, Nicole <3

  6. The room makeover is so awesome! I wish I’d been that creative as a kid, not that my parents probably would have let me do anything that cool. And of course I always love the dog pictures. Hopefully this week has gone smoothly for you. I never seem to have time to do a lot of blog surfing and commenting until Saturdays, but I’m trying to always schedule time on Saturdays.

    • I’ve just had the hardest time keeping up with all our projects and still managing the blog as well. I used to always blog surf and reply to comments on the weekends, but between the projects and the puppy, it feels impossible lately. Hoping I manage better now that school has started, but we shall see.
