Sunday (Monday) Post: Book Pre-order Campaigns & Giveaways Galore – 9/13/20

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

Once again, I’m not getting my Sunday Post up until Monday. We were crazy busy this weekend, and I just didn’t have the energy to write the post last night before I went to bed (it really does take me multiple hours with all the giveaways and pre-order stuff). So, what were we up to?

  • We painted another bedroom. That’s what I did most of this weekend—the final bedroom has now been painted after all of our shuffling, and it’s now set up as an office for my husband and a sleeping space for my mom on the weekends (or for Jade when she’s home from college). It amazes me that these projects always take longer than you think. Sunday afternoon, we were saying, “Okay, we’re almost done.” And then three hours later you find yourself saying, “Just one more thing to do…” We still have more painting to do in the house, but it’s nice to be done with the bedrooms and have everyone set up for school/work. Here are pics of the two rooms we most recently finished: Noah’s room (which used to be Danielle’s) and the office/my mom’s room/Jade’s room (which used to be Noah’s room.

I didn’t have a great “before” pic of Noah’s old room, but you can see the bright green and now the gray office.

And here you can see Danielle’s old purple has been transformed to a nice blue for Noah. This bed took us a lot of work to get fixed up and put together!

  • Noah’s back in the classroom two days a week. They’ve started bringing back some of the kids in the special ed program two days a week. We were a little unsure about it, but we ended up deciding to send Noah. There are very few people in the building and they will be very social-distanced (only four kids in his classroom). Today is his first day, so we’ll see how it goes!
  • Reading
    • I actually read this week!! I read Flamer, a graphic novel, and posted my review the same day I finished it.  🙂
    • I finished listening to Girl, Serpent, Thorn. That review also went up last week.
    • I ALSO read Eva Evergreen, Semi-Magical Witch, which was super cute. Look at me, finishing books—kind of a miracle lately!
  • Writing and blogging. Believe it or not, I actually got a fair amount of writing done this past week! I only managed one post on the blog, but I did make a little headway on my five million un-replied comments and finally did a bit of blog surfing. I’m calling that a win.
  • Digit! I think I’ve figured out one reason I haven’t been as productive lately (one of many reasons—but I think this is something I wasn’t completely recognizing before). I have had to adjust my schedule because of Digit. I’ve always found myself to be most productive in the mornings, post-coffee but pre-the-day-has-gotten-underway-and-there-are-a-million-distractions. Unfortunately, mornings are when Digit is most active (I’d say, mornings and evenings). There is no morning me-time. At all. If I do not 100% focus on a certain puppy in the morning, I will pay a price, usually a painful one involving bite marks and LOTS of frustration. It’s not worth it. So, I’ve had to figure out how to force myself into productive mode later in the day. Right, now a certain pup is happily sleeping on the floor next to me while I type (see the first pic below), after multiple long sessions of fetch. This is when I can get some things done (as long as I don’t disturb him in any way, shape or form—taking the picture was dangerously close to disturbing him). I have to take advantage now. Or never.

  1. Oh, I love Noah’s bed/desk combo. I’m sure that took awhile to put together, but it looks awesome. I hope his first day in the classroom went well!!! It sounds like it’ll be a good thing. Yay for getting some reading and writing done over the weekend. I hope you find a new schedule that works for you – and Digit! 🙂 Thanks for sharing my giveaways!!

  2. I work with an instructional program near you, and our students were given the option of returning am only 4 days per week. The start of the school year has been an interesting ride overall with some kids in person and some kids remote. I think this will be a roller coaster of a year with lots of changes along the way!

I never get tired of Digit pictures 🙂

  3. You’ve done a great job fixing up your spaces for their new uses. Everything is an adjustment and process to get to what works whether it is COVID or Digit causing the reorganization of routines. Hopefully with much of the home projects tackled you will have a bit more time for reading and writing.

  4. Wow, what a lot of work! I love the new gray walls in the office. And Noah’s bed/desk combo is awesome. I hope his return to the classroom goes well. The small class size is certainly encouraging. And thanks for the shout-out on my post last week! 🙂

  5. Good to hear you are getting a lot of reading and writing done again. Nothing is easy when you have babies to look after. Noah’s room looks amazing. That bed is a showpiece. Wow! I hope all goes well for Noah at school. I don’t have a child in school any longer, but I am still a mixed bag of emotions when it comes to the situation.

  6. You got so much done! Painting and redecorating is so time consuming but it all looks great!

I actually got some reading and blogging in for the first time in months. I even managed to blog ahead a bit.

One thing I’m lucky about with the puppies is that they tire each other out so I get some peace. I say some because they also get into two times the trouble sometimes lol

  7. OMG thank you so much for linking my post! (And for the birthday shout-out!)

And a dog is an excellent reason for lack of productivity – doggy cuddles are far more important! 🙂 <3
