Sunday Post header

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

  • Blogging. I’m back! Look at me, I actually blogged and visited blogs this week. I spent most of my blog-hopping time reading and commenting on the discussions linked up to the challenge (um, I realized there are still some from August I haven’t gotten to!). But I should be able to do even more visiting this week!
  • Family pictures. I think we’ll finally be getting our family pics this afternoon. Weather kept us from getting them last week. I have zero family pictures that I can hang on my walls without making my oldest miserable (she is not fond of pictures of her before her transition), so I’m excited to finally have some nice ones!
  • What I Read:
    • I read Ice! Poems About Polar Life and Hello, Earth!: Poems to Our Planet, both of which are nominated for Cybils in the category I’m judging. I’ll be writing bite-sized reviews of all the Cybils books, so watch for those!
    • I also started reading Rewritten by Tara Gilboy and Violets Are Blue by Barbara Dee (don’t ask me why I started reading both at once – one’s digital and one’s physical, but it’s still silly, I know).
    • I finished listening to The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins and started listening to Tristan Strong Destroys the World by Kwame Mbalia.

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

Book Blogger Birthdays and Blogoversaries:

Happy birthday graphic Happy blogoversary graphic

Here are the birthdays and blogoversaries for this week! I hope you’ll go wish these bloggers well on their special days! Make sure you check out the calendar to see what you might have just missed or what’s coming up. (If you want to be added to the calendar, it’s easy! Just fill out the birthday/blogoversary form.

Book Haul:

NetGalley:

I got approved for In Every Generation by Kendare Blake. Combining my love of Blake with my love of Buffy pretty much feels like a recipe for the perfect book! I also got approved for Feather and Flame by Livia Blackburne. I really enjoyed Blackburne’s Rosemarked Duology, and I tend to love Disney retellings, so I’m excited for this one! Finally, just yesterday I was approved for Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen. Thanks to the publishers for these awesome books!

  1. Enjoy your NetGalley books. I have a few left to read in the next couple of months too.

We used to get family pictures done before we had digital camera and then we just had someone take a picture of us because they charge so much to have them done professionally.

  2. Oh! I hope we’ll get to see some of those family pictures! The ones we have are pretty recent, from my brother’s wedding about a year ago, but they aren’t hung up yet. The ones hung up are over 10 years old!

And I’m so glad you had a chance to blog and blog hop! I’ve been playing catch up as well, and have commented on posts from as far back as January 2021! But I appreciate you mentioning my more recent post!

I hope you have a wonderful week!

  3. Awww. That’s so awesome that you are doing a family portrait. We used to do a cousin’s picture as kids, but we never really did that. I think they are great though

  4. I’m curious about the new Blake one especially since reading her latest. And yay for new family pictures!

Hope you have a wonderful week!

  5. Hope your pictures came out well. Glad you are back to blogging. It must mean your manuscript is done. That’s awesome! Thanks for mentioning my giveaways. Natalie @ Literary Rambles

  6. I hope your pictures went well, or go well, if you haven’t done them yet! How fun!!

I’m sort of all over the place when it comes to blogging and commenting these days. hah I think I might take most of November off or something…just one less thing to stress about for a little bit!

  7. Have fun getting your family photos done! We haven’t done one since Robin was little, but there are lots of snapshots over the years. (Mostly taken by me, though, so there aren’t many with me in them.) Maybe I’ll get my parents to take one of the three of us on Christmas.

Your new books look great! I have been eyeing Skin of the Sea. I hope it’s as good as it sounds.

    Have a great week!

    • We do have snapshots, but even those have gotten much rarer over the years. Plus, I find that we have a lot more of my one daughter than the other two kids, just because she tends to do more stuff with us. (The other two are happier to keep to themselves and their video games.) LOL!

  8. Welcome back! I’m also trying to get back into blogging now that my summer chaos has died down. Catching up on comments seems to be a never-ending struggle. I want to visit everybody’s blogs, but there are so many!

    • So very true! For most of my blogging career, I was great about replying to all of my comments and commenting back, but this past year I’ve fallen way behind. I have a plugin that tracks my un-replied comments, and it now says I have almost 1300 comments that have no reply! I really wish I could get the plugin to reset starting right now, but turning it off and back on didn’t seem to do that. It’s a lost cause now!

  9. This is about the time my brother’s family usually takes their family pictures. I always love having them of my niece and nephew. I need to bug them to find out when they are doing it! I’ve been getting behind on visiting other blogs. Trying to do better, but this month, and since school started back, it’s all been crazy! Glad you’re having some time to get back, and it looks like you got some good books this week. Thanks for mentioning my birthday this week too!
