Sunday Post header

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

  • I missed out! I had a low-grade fever from last Saturday through Thursday morning. It wasn’t terrible, but it was definitely annoying because I was hot and cold all the time. My temp did get up to 101 a couple of times early on, but it was mostly lower – but I didn’t really feel comfortable going out into the world until the fever went away.
    • Which meant I missed out on:
      • Singing worship on Sunday for Easter
      • A book launch event for Lorelai Savaryn’s THE EDGE OF IN BETWEEN (which I was really looking forward to because Lorelai was a fellow mentor for Author Mentor Match, and I was excited to find out that she lives just like 15 minutes away from me. And I was also supposed to be meeting up with one of my critique partners there.)
      • Volunteering at Bernie’s Book Bank
    • So, yeah, that’s all the things I was supposed to do this week. But didn’t. Sigh.
    • Luckily, the fever seemed to finally go away on Thursday. Too bad it happened on a week I was supposed to be particularly busy.
  • Danielle’s prom. Last night was prom night for my daughter. Hard to believe she’s going to be off to college soon!

  • What I Read
    • I read a lot this week! (I didn’t feel like writing because of the fever, but it didn’t stop me from reading.)
      • I finished reading Ellen Outside the Lines by AJ Sass The BFG by Roald Dahl.
      • I also read The Mirrorwood by Deva Fagan (check out my review and giveaway to get a copy of your own), The Deepest Breath by Meg Gregan, The Wild Book by Margarita Engle, and May B. by Caroline Rose Starr.
      • And I started reading Trusting True North by Gina Linko.
    • I finished listening to Trashlands by Alison Stine and then listened to (most of) Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills (see my note below). I then started listening to Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison.
      • A weird thing happened while listening to Foolish Hearts: At a (very) critical point in the book, the audio skipped like two whole pages! I was so confused about what was going on. Luckily, I had a physical ARC of the book that I picked up and filled myself in on those two pages – then I just ended up finishing up by reading my ARC. So strange! I ended up contacting Hoopla to let them know about the issue, but I have no idea if it’s just something strange with the audiobook version they received or if all versions are like that.
  • What I Watched:
    • I finally watched the final season of Schitt’s Creek. I don’t know why I stopped right before I got to the end (must be the same issue I have with final books in a series), but I’m glad I finally got to see the end of this series!
    • Oh, and I forgot to mention last week that I finished watching Kim’s Convenience. I was so disappointed that it basically ended on a cliffhanger! Ugh!
    • I also watched the last two episodes of The Ultimatum. Why, oh, why did I watch this show? It was really pretty terrible, but I couldn’t bring myself to look away!
    • My mom and I started watching the K-drama Rain or Shine on Netflix. I know I found out about this show from a fellow blogger, but I can’t remember who. But, whoever it was, thank you for the recommendation because I’m really loving it!
    • I also watched a bit more of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lost in Space.

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

  1. So sorry you were feeling bad this week! Same for me, but with vertigo. Danielle looks beautiful in that dress! I had to chaperone my school district’s prom last night too. I loved seeing all the kids all dressed up! All the different styles and ways they chose. Hope you enjoy the books you got from my giveaway too! Have a great week!

  2. So sorry to hear you got sick right before the holiday! That’s a bummer. Glad you’re on the mend now though! Danielle looks gorgeous in her dress! Hope she had a blast “last night” (as I write this on Sunday evening, 😉 ).

Nice new reads too! All new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Oh no! I’m sorry you ended up missing out on things because you had a temperature. Getting sick never avoids those weeks you have stuff on, you should be able to plan these things for when you’re planning on having a quiet week anyway. Glad to see you finally finished Schitt’s Creek. That was one TV series that ended just so perfectly. i love when a show ends and the writers expect it so they can wrap things up, but it also didn’t get dragged on for so long I started disliking the show.

  4. Ugh, I am SO sorry you were sick, and even worse that you had to miss so many things you were looking forward to. That is awful! But I am also glad you’re on the mend! Danielle looks GORGEOUS, so happy for her! Also love her dress! I hope she had a wonderful time! How is Lost in Space? I have been curious, but I never started it!
