The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.
This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
- We went shopping for dorm stuff for Danielle. She’s leaving in less than a month, and I am not okay. (I mean, I am, but I’m not.)
- Still doing my marathon training. Longest run this week was a 10k (6.2 miles), which is shorter than last week, but I actually managed to run it with only one stint of walking, so I called that a win.
- I’m officially out on submission with ORPHAN’S SONG, the middle grade fantasy in verse that I’ve been talking about for a long time. It’s both exciting and terrifying to be on submission again!
- What I Read
- I read Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun by Tọlá Okogwu and the first volume of the Heartstopper graphic novel by Alice Oseman. Then I started volume 2 of Heartstopper. I also started reading National Geographic Kids’ Ultimate Book of the Future.
- I continued listening to The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater.
- What I Watched:
- We started watching the latest season of Alone. It’s crazy how these people survive out in the wild!
- We also finished watching Love, Victor. Lots of teen angst and break-ups packed into this short series, but we still enjoyed it.
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
First, I love your hair! I regularly color my hair purple and I love your ombre. 😀 Second, I’m sorry it’s so hard letting go of your kids as they grow and leave the nest. {{{hugs}}} Third, good luck with ORPHAN’S SONG. That’s so exciting and scary! I hope everything goes well. Fourth, I have watch Love, Victor yet, but I really want to. I loved Love, Simon.
I would call your training a win especially with how hot it’s been too. You’re a star! It is still tragic for me when I drop the kid off. At least Indiana isn’t too far away.
I was the same way when my daughter left last year. Hard to adjust. 🙂
Ooh that’s exciting news! Good luck!!!!!
Have an awesome week 🙂
It must be hard to send a kid off to college, but I’m sure she’ll do great! And submission does sound both exciting and terrifying! Haha, no worries 😁
Life without Danielle here is going to be weird, for sure. Can’t believe it’s actually happening. And yes, the submission is definitely a mixture of emotions. I’m really hopeful, but this business is HARD!
Wow, well done on your marathon training! You sure are getting there. Best of luck to you with your submission!
Thanks so much!
I’ve been watching Alone too. I admire those who have all the skills to survive in conditions like that, and it is interesting to watch them build shelters, fish, and hunt. Some handle the solitary life better than others.
Some of the shelters are incredibly impressive. Can’t believe they make them with almost no tools!
I had a hard time when my daughter left for college too, but you have to act excited for them. Good luck with it and being on submission. I read Oneyka too and really enjoyed it.
I know – of course I’m excited for her, but it’s also really hard!
Great job on the marathon training! Thanks so much for sharing my Harry Potter giveaway!!! I appreciate it. And yay for being on submission.
-lauren
Thanks for hosting it!
College is so exciting though! 🙂 I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you book on submission! Hoping you get a bite on that! You have so much more motivation than I do I think for so many things. Writing, running. Keep up the good work! Hope you have a great week!
Oh, you’re definitely right. I know college is going to be awesome for her, but it will be a huge change around here. She’s the social kid—if she’s home, she’s hanging out in the family room with me. It will be so weird to have her gone!
It must be hard to send a kid off to college, but I’m sure she’ll do great! And submission does sound both exciting and terrifying!
It’s definitely hard. Life will be very different once Danielle is at school!
Wishing you all the best of luck with your book, going on submission, SO exciting!! <3 <3
Good luck on submission!!
