The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season! For us, the holidays have been somewhat bittersweet (I’ve mentioned why in past Sunday Posts), but it’s been really nice to have the family all together and I’m thankful for every precious moment. I’m praying for good things to come in 2023 (for our family, and also for all of you!)

Here are some things I’ve been up to:

  • Lots of D&D! My oldest has gotten us to play D&D with her. At first, we played a couple of times over the phone, but it’s been much more fun playing in person (and maybe now we’ll be a bit better at it, so we can play more effectively from a distance, too).
  • Lots of other games, too. This was the Christmas of many games. We played some old favorites and got a ton of new ones. We’ve played a variety of those, and we have more still to try. Trial by Trolley was a big hit for us. Mind the Gap, not quite as much so, but I think we’re just not a trivia family. We’ve also been randomly playing Taboo on our phones and a special edition of Clue that my oldest got based on one of her favorite You-Tubers. Oh, and I can’t forget Mario Cart and Tetris!
  • Making and eating all the Christmas goodies. My younger daughter makes excellent peppermint patties and fudge, and we’ve been stuffing ourselves with those and other treats throughout the holiday season. We also got an air fryer for Christmas, so we’ve been trying out new recipes with that.
  • More exciting progress on the thing I can’t talk about. I hit another milestone and had reason to celebrate! Yeah, I know you guys are sick of hearing me talk around this, but I swear I’ll be able to say more soon… (I sure hope so, at least!)

What I Read This Week:

  • I read Glitterpony Farm by Tina Connoly. (For some reason, this book isn’t on Goodreads, yet, but it’s a fun Choose Your Own Adventure book coming out in March – I read all the different iterations, and it was super cute!)
  • I continued listening to Little Thieves by Margaret Owen. (Though I didn’t listen much this week.)

What I Watched:

  • Christmas movies! We started with Elf, of course, and then we watched Spirited (which was a whole lot better than we were expecting – really enjoyable!). Then we moved on to a not-so-Christmas movie:
  • The Matrix. The kids had never seen this, so we landed on this one when we couldn’t agree on another Christmas movie.
  • Strange World. We also all watched Strange World on Disney+ (my oldest and I had already seen it in the theatre, but it was still fun to watch it again!)

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

Book Haul:

I got some books (for myself – LOL) for Christmas and a few review books as well. But I haven’t taken pictures, so I guess you’ll have to wait and see…

I’ve officially decided to take the giveaways section out of my Sunday Post. It’s just been too hard for me to keep up with along with the pre-order campaigns, and I feel like the pre-order section is more valuable, so I’m going to focus on that. Many of the giveaways I featured were links to sites that host them all the time, so feel free to check an older Sunday Post for links to those. I hope you’ve found out about some great giveaways here over the years!

Lots of good stuff! Have any news? Feel free to share in the comments!

  1. D&D was huge when I was kid, so seeing it still being played makes me happy. It’s been a while since I did a basement D&D thing (why was it always basements?) All the games sound like so much fun! I will keep coming back looking for that update on your news. Happy New Year, Nicole!

  2. Very nice! Glad to hear you watched some good movies and had a nice holiday! I really wanted to see Spirited, but alas we only have so many streaming services in our budget and Apply never made the cut! But I love Will Farrell and Ryan Reynolds…basically the whole reason why I wanted to see it! Lol. Maybe some day I can sign up for a trial or something. Maybe next year before the holiday season when I am more likely to remember to cancel said trial before it ends and all that!

Yay for new reads! I hope you enjoy whatever mysterious reads you received! 😉
