The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

What’s been happening since my last Sunday Post:

Danielle is off to Spain for her study abroad! She’s having a fantastic time already. There are two other girls staying with the host family, and she really likes both of them, which is a relief. They agreed to speak Spanish pretty much all the time (or at least as much as possible) to help them all be fluent, and apparently their host was super happy and impressed. She says she’s been hosting for sixteen years and has never had students do that before.

Noah is applying to some new jobs. Looks like I spoke a bit too soon about my son’s first job. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. He’s disappointed, of course, but we’ve tried to help him understand that not every job is a good fit for every person. He really loves the idea of working, though, so we’re hoping he can find something else that will be right for him.

What I Read:

  • I read Love That Dog by Sharon Creech, Ruptured by Joanne Rossmassler Fritz, A Work in Progress by Jarrett Lerner, Four Eyes by Rex Ogle, and The Swifts by Beth Lincoln. Then I started reading The Adventures of the Flash Gang: Exploding Experiment by M.M. Downing & S.J. Waugh.
  • I finished listening to Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune. I really liked this one, though not quite as much as Cerulean Sea.
  • Then I listened to Ellie Engle Saves Herself by Leah Johnson, which I was pleasantly surprised to realize is an LGBTQ+ book. (This should have been obvious–I just wasn’t paying attention when I got my review copy.)
  • I started listening to Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister. Two adult titles! What’s gotten into me?
  • I also started listening to Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig.

What I Watched:

  • I watched the finale of American Idol.

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

  1. Good luck to Noah. I hope he finds something perfect for him. What an awesome experience for your daughter. It’s great that she is really immersing herself . Best way to learn a language.

    • I think this Matt Haig book is really good for helping people to understand how depression and anxiety feel so that they can understand it a bit more. I haven’t listened to it all yet, but I’m definitely liking it. Trying to get my daughter to listen to it with me, but she’s been sort of resistant, so we shall see.

  2. As you can tell I’m so far behind on my commenting! Glad to hear that Danielle is having a good time in Spain. That’s so cool! And yeah, I remember one of my first jobs that didn’t work out well. I had told them I needed a certain weekend off right when I interviewed. It was a month into the job. I was a high school student at the time, so had no choice but to do what my parents wanted, so had to be gone that weekend. The week of the days I needed off, the owner of the little store came in and told me he wanted to say goodbye to me on my last day because they couldn’t give me those days off so they fired me. And then they took money out of my final paycheck because I hadn’t given them back the little booklet they gave me the first day of my job about what the job was. Suffice it to say I wasn’t sad to see when that store ended up going out of business. But that’s the world! Hope your son finds a better fit of a job!
