Sunday Post & Giveaways Galore – 3/12/17

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead. Last week on FYFA (and in my life): I managed to fix that error in the Book Blog Discussion Challenge Sign-Up post that I mentioned last week. I finally figured out that it was […]

Two #ownvoices Reads: The Hate U Give and The Education of Margot Sanchez

Two #ownvoices Reads: The Hate U Give and The Education of Margot Sanchez

These two books were very similar in theme and both #ownvoices** reads, so I decided to go ahead and review them together! Both books feature POC** main characters—Margot is Puerto Rican and Starr is black. Ironically, both Margot and Starr’s dads own grocery stores in an inner city area and the girls both attend private schools outside of the city. Both of them struggle with identity issues because of this—that balance between fitting in and […]

Is There Such a Thing as a “Quick Post”? Let’s Discuss!

Is There Such a Thing as a “Quick Post”? Let’s Discuss!

This post has been linked up to the Book Blog Discussion Challenge. Every once in a while, I convince myself that I have a great idea for a “quick” blog post—something that I can whip right up that won’t take me long at all. After all, the ideas are flowing and I’m feeling inspired! … Three hours later, I’m finishing up said blog post, feeling exhausted and wondering how in the heck I managed to […]

Etched in Bone by Anne Bishop: Review

Etched in Bone by Anne Bishop: Review

It’s hard to believe that this is the final installment of The Others (at least as we know it—there will be future books, but this ends the Lakeside Courtyard-focused books). Meg has got to be one of my favorite fictional characters of all time, and I’m sad to see her story (and Simon’s) end. Still, Bishop gave us a fantastic send-off, so that’s cause for celebration! What Fed My Addiction: Meg’s journey. Meg has come so far […]

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead. Last week on FYFA (and in my life): I don’t know how I let this happen, but I suddenly feel like I’m drowning in review books. I’m behind on reading them, even though […]

Two (Free) Tools that Have Transformed My Replying and Commenting Back

Two (Free) Tools that Have Transformed My Replying and Commenting Back

This post has been linked up to the Book Blog Discussion Challenge. In the past couple of months, I’ve been trying out two new tools that have really helped me with replying and commenting back (though there are a few drawbacks as well, which I’ll tell you about). I’ve been using the Comment Not Yet Replied To plugin (which, obviously, only works for WordPress self-hosted blogs) and Pocket, a tool that allows you to save. […]

The Burning World by Isaac Marion: Review

The Burning World by Isaac Marion: Review

It’s taken years for us to get a sequel to Warm Bodies, but it was worth the wait. This book feels very different than the first book—more adult somehow (Julie turns 20 during the book, but it’s more the tone of the book that I’m referring to than the ages of the characters). In this sequel, R is learning how to be human again, and struggling against remembering his past life. He doesn’t want to […]

February Wrap-Up

February Wrap-Up

My Goings On in February: I celebrated my 43rd birthday and my 4th blogoversary! I binge-watched The Fosters (total guilty-pleasure TV) and some of Season 3 of The 100. The kids finished up their swim team season, and we have a bit of a break (about six weeks). Nice to have some breathing room. This month was tough emotionally (Actually, the past two months have been). We had two family deaths recently, one that was […]
