Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is:
Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn’t Get To
There are definitely WAY more than 10 of these, but these are the first ten I thought of! (I tried to only include books that were released earlier in the year.)
- Alienated by Melissa Landers – Why haven’t I read this book yet? I’ve been in love with it ever since I saw the cover, and it seems like everyone has really enjoyed it. I NEED to get this one!
- Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins – I have a signed copy of this book sitting on my bookshelf. Why haven’t I read it? Who knows.
- Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead – I’ve waited so long on this one that now I’m just going to wait for the next book and read them both, right in a row.
- Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson – Another one that’s been sitting on my shelf (signed) ever since BEA. People have raved about this book, so I know I need to read it!
- Take Me On by Katie McGarry – I read the first books in this series all at once, but I still haven’t read this one!
- The Forever Song by Julie Kagawa – I think this is one of those cases where I’m just scared to read the final book in a series that I LOVED. For some reason, I just haven’t been able to do it – I think I’m scared I won’t love it as much as the first two!
- The Treatment by Suzanne Young – I actually got approved for this one from Edelweiss, but then somehow forgot to download it in time. So now it’s just a stain on my Edelweiss record – I need to get the book so I can read it!
- The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkowski – Do I even need to say anything about why I need to read this book?
- UnDivided by Neal Shusterman – Another final book that I haven’t read yet. This is one of the best dystopian series I’ve ever read, so I REALLY need to finish it!
- We Were Liars by E. Lockhart – People seem to either love this book or hate it – I think I need to at least give it a try!!
So, what books did you miss in 2014?
Awesome picks here Nicole!! I also still want to read The Winner’s Curse and Alienated, as well as get into the Bloodlines series AND the Blood of Eden series XD It always seems like there are too many good books to read and not enough time to read them?! hehe Anyways, I hope you get to read these asap in the new year^^ Happy reading x
Yes, I probably could have easily put thirty books on this list!
All of these are on my list as well but four and those four aren’t only because I actually got to them last year. Here is to hoping we can both get to them all this new year!
So many amazing books to read. If only I could just do nothing but read all day, every day!
I love your list! I have so many of them on my wishlists. I read a novella by Katie McGarry late last year (Red at Night), and it was my first time reading any of her works and I really enjoyed it! I definitely have to try her Pushing the Limits series at some stage this year. We Were Liars and Since You’ve Been Gone are on my own list this week! To make me feel a little worse, I actually own both of them! I bought We Were Liars when it was on sale for Kindle a while back… and I sort of forget about every time I choose a new book to read. Out of sight really is out of mind! Great picks, and I hope you get around to reading them in 2015 🙂
Yes, that’s the problem with Kindle books – they kind of get lost. You should check out this post that Terri linked up to our Discussion Challenge. She actually printed pictures of all of her Kindle book covers and put them into their own little books so she could browse them!
I’ve been curious about Alienated, I’ve seen it around and have actually read positive reviews on it; love your list! And can I just mention that I love that I’ve stumbled upon your blog, as I am a ravenous-book-reading-homeschool-mom too! 😀
Ha! We definitely need to stick together then!!
I’ve read Isla and We Were Liars…both books that I really enjoyed. However, I also need to read Since You’ve Been Gone and The Winner’s Curse. I’m sure there are TONS of books I missed last year!
I could have easily listed TONS more. I think I only really got to like June in my TBR list, and I had to take some off in order to whittle it down to ten!
Great list. I read We Were Liars and it was so good. The ending blew me away!
That’s what I’ve heard. At first I read a couple of negative reviews, but then later it seemed like everyone was loving it!!
Awesome list you have there! The Winner’s Curse, Alienated and Silver Shadows were fantastic! I cannot wait to read The Winner’s Crime and The Ruby Circle. I am in the process of reading Invaded right now and I am loving it.
I just finished reading Anna and the French Kiss last week but I am looking forward to reading Lola and the Boy Next Door and Isla and the Happily Ever After.
Well, since you’re a fellow Nicole, of course you must have fantabulous taste in books! 🙂
I hardly ever read books in the year they are released. Books are on my TBR for a very long time before I get around to them, I’m always behind, haha.
Yes, there are some other series that I am seriously behind in as well! This is just a small sampling of the books I would have liked to have read this past year!
I think I’ve given myself enough time to recover from The Eternity Cure, so it’s time to read the Forever Song, too.
Yes! Tell me when and we can read it together! 🙂
I have heard good things about a lot of these, Stephanie Perkins series especially! Nice picks 🙂
Check out my TTT!

I actually think I’m going to go pick up Isla right now! Time to read!
Oh, you’ve got some good ones here. SYBG was so, so good, and this is coming from someone who has a tough time with contemporary. Isla was very cute. I actually read that one without having first read the first two books (which are both sitting – signed!! – on my shelf. TWC – awesome, but you know this already. And yes, you need to read it!
Alienated and We Were Liars were just OK for me. Take Me On was a DNF. I’d read all of the previous books, but in this one, the relationships were just getting too obsessive, and the guy is too violent, for my tastes.
The Forever Song was a bit of a disappointment. And I loved the first two books, so I’m not sure what went wrong.
Wow – just realized I’ve commented on 8 of your 10 books, so I guess I’ll keep going! 🙂 The Treatment – not as good as The Program. I’m undecided if I’ll continue with the series. And finally…no comment on Undivided – the one book I haven’t read! I did read the first book, and I need to continue.
Enjoy!
See, that’s why I’m terrified of reading The Forever Song. What if it doesn’t measure up? Ugh! Guess I’ll wait a little longer. LOL!
Guess I just need to go visit your blog to find out what else I need to read, since you’ve read all the ones I’ve been waiting on! 🙂
Ever since reading The 5th Wave I’ve been really into alien books so I really wanted to pick up Alienated as well though sadly I didn’t get around to it either. Everyone seems to LOVE Since You’ve Been Gone! I’ll definitely have to pick up a copy of that sometime soon and see what all of the hype is about because I’ve never read a Morgan Matson novel before. Great picks!

Yes! I loved The 5th Wave too – actually, the second book in that series could have easily made it’s way onto my list as well. It’s another book I have sitting on my shelf, signed (Rick Yancey was great fun at the author event that I went to!).
alienated and we were liars are both part of my favorite reads of 2014. you should read them. Great list.
Yes – I definitely need to read them SOON!!
OH ME TOO GIRL. There are way more than 10 for me too! LOL. Surprisingly, I’ve read quite a few from your list! The Forever Song, The Treatment, Silver Shadows, Since You’ve Been Gone, and Take Me On were all enjoyable reads for me, so I hope you like them too! The Winner’s Curse? Dude. I’ve had that book for SO LONG it feels like. I also have been meaning to read Alienated for awhile myself! Sigh. Good luck girl getting these read! I can’t wait to hear what you think of them!
There are just too many amazing books in the world. It’s a real problem.
Isla! I should have added that to my list, but I had way over ten. 🙁 Since You’ve Been Gone made my list as well. 🙂 And ooh, a signed copy.
I need to read The Program duo, I meant to but….I never got around to it. Same as Blood of Eden and The Winner’s Curse. *sigh* I read We Were Liars though!
Others I missed that I don’t have on my list are Vivian Versus The Apocalypse/Vivian Versus America, Being Sloane Jacobs, On The Fence, What I Thought Was True and Far From You. *sigh*
I actually picked up Isla last night (after I spent way too much time commenting on TTT posts – this was such a great topic!). I’m only about 75 pages in, but I’m enjoying it so far!!
Go read Undivided now! Go, I say! I agree with you, one of the best series ever. And I didn’t hate We Were Liars, but I was underwhelmed by it. But I think it is one of those that everyone kind of has to read for themselves. I am with you- I could have probably listed 50 books without even trying! Ugh, the never ending TBR 😉 Hope you get to read these soon!
Okay, I just requested Undivided from the library. I know I really need to own this series, but for now I’m going with the library since I don’t own the first two. Except it’s tempting to just … nope. Library.
Actually, the other benefit of the library is that I have a set amount of time to read it in (and I can usually manage to do it).
I need to start so many of those series but I just never seem to get around to doing it :/
I know – there are just TOO many!
Ahhhh. Isla! The Winner’s Curse! Take Me On! Alienated! SILVER SHADOWS. Get on these, girl! 😛 Seriously though, loved every one of those books. Since You’ve Been Gone made my list too, and I hope to read that Julie Kagawa series as well some time.
I hope you’re able to get to these this year!
I’m actually reading Isla right now – so that’s one down (out of about a million!).
Alienated is SO swoony, as is Isla and Since You’ve Been Gone… and Take Me On… and The Winner’s Curse. HONESTLY THEY’RE JUST ALL PERFECT. I adore them ^_^
I still need to read The Treatment as well, and hopefully soon, before The Remedy is released. I personally liked We Were Liars, because that ending totally caught me by surprise!
I just finished Isla, and I really enjoyed it. I’m definitely going to give We Were Liars a try – I’m intrigued!
Alienated and Winner’s Curse almost made my list too. I haven’t read Unravel me yet, but it’s on my list for this year. I so understand, I’m always afraid to read the last book. I mean, what if it isn’t good? Good luck getting to some of these. 🙂
I know – it’s too much pressure!

Great list! The Winner’s Crime was also one I meant to get to. I do own it, so I will be reading it this year! I also missed out on We Were Liars, but I read it this month so I was able to catch up on that one 😉
I managed to read Isla and I’m now reading Since You’ve Been Gone, so I’m catching up! (At least with this list.)
That’s good! I have Anna and the French Kiss, so I should probably start the series. As for Since You’ve Been Gone, I am not sure how I feel about that one yet, so I look forward to your review!
I too meant to read Alienated and Silver Shadows in 2014. This is a new year with new reading goals. I’m sure these two will be at the top of my list. I look forward to hearing what you think of them. Thanks for sharing.
Always,
Elizabeth @ Stuffed Shelves
Yes! I’ve actually already read two books from this list, so I’m off to a good start!!

thanks for the post and the list. I have been wanting to read Alienated and Since You’ve Been Gone. I am learning so much since I discovered you!
I’m glad I can help you find new books to love!!
