This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
I started working with three critique partners this week! It’s funny because I’d tweeted about my search for a CP with no luck—but then suddenly, almost ten days later, three people contacted me. We’ve exchanged a few chapters and it seems like all three CPs are going to be a great fit!
And yesterday, I went to see Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff on tour for Obsidio. They’re incredibly entertaining! Watch for a recap of the event and a giveaway of a signed copy of the book (or two!).

I am glad you found CPs that work for you! I bet the Obsidio event was awesome. Hope you have a great week!
I’m excited about my new CPs! Their books are great!!
How cool that you got to see Amie Kaufman in person! I really enjoyed her other series, I think it was called the Stardust series? I’m so bad with remembering titles. Anyway, she’s definitely an author I’d want to meet in person.
I’m horrible about remembering that series name as well. For some reason it never wants to stick in my head! I had to look it up (because it was going to drive me crazy). It’s the Starbound Series. 🙂 It’s a favorite of mine as well!
Awesome to come across the right CPs for you. And I can’t wait to read Obsidio. That series is incredible.
I hope you get your hands on Obsidio soon!
That’s awesome you now have three critique partners and they seem like they will all work!! Whoo hooo! Can’t wait to hear about the Jay and Aimee event. I’ve seen them before too and they are so fun.

Yes—critique partners and beta readers are key to a great book!
It’s so cool that you got to go to an Obsidio event. I’ve heard that the authors are interesting people. I hope you have a great week!
They are super funny and interesting—it was a great event!
I really need to find some critique partners myself. I’ve tried a writing group or two that didn’t really work out. Tried searching through a blog post. Oh well. For now I’m just going to keep writing. I need to keep reading that series by Kaufman and Kristoff. I really liked the first one. Have a great week!
You definitely should get critique partners—I think it’s such a valuable part of the process!
Aw YAY I am so glad that you found CPs who work for you, that’s awesome! And glad that you got to go to the Obsidio event, they do sound like so much fun! And thank you so much for sharing my junk, you are too sweet! 😀
Kaufman and Kristoff are a hilarious team!
YAY for finding critique partners! And YAY for getting to meet Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff! I can’t wait to hear about how that book signing went, I bet it was so much fun!! Wishing you a wonderful rest of your week! ♥
This reminds me that I still need to write that recap! Yikes!!
Hope the CP’s continue to be a good fit. Sounds like another fun book event!
So glad I noticed you mention my blogoversary… because I had totally forgotten! LOL
Guess I better get on the ball and plan something. 🙂
Hope you have a great week, Nicole!
Glad I could remind you of your blogoversary! You’d be surprised how many people say that they forgot until my tweet or my Sunday Post. 🙂
oh man you are have the most fascinating bookworm life ever! YOU SAW Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff??? and you got signed copies!!! [sighs]
So great that you have critique partners! [I shudder just to think about it because I’m a total chicken]
One of these days I’m gonna get you to CP with me. You can do it! 🙂
lol! OK I think I need to “made to it” ! 🙂
Ok, I read this three times and I don’t know what it means, but if it means you’re gonna send me your ms, send it on over here, girl! 😉
haha! I’m sorry! I wouldn’t know what that means either!
That’s what happens when I comment on my iPhone while rushing the kids out of the house to soccer practices LOL
“Someone has to make me do it” I guess I meant to say 🙂 and… YES! Of course you have been on my checklist right after “editing and cleaning as much as I can” comes “send MS to Nicole for editing services” 🙂
Almost there! Cannot wait! Terrified but really cannot wait!
Since your MS definitely in better shape than mine please feel free to send it for beta reading or feedback anytime you want! I’ll be SO honored!
I somehow missed this when you commented (I can’t believe how far behind I am on comments!). I’ll definitely send you the book for a beta read (and I’d love to return the favor). I’m making a few changes now, but I’ll try to do it soon!
I’ll keep stalking you until I get you to CP with me. 🙂
How awesome are Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman? They are just as captivating in real life as the characters they write are on the page.
I agree! They were such FUN!
That’s awesome on the critique partners. Nice when they feel like a good fit like that 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend!
Yes! Good critique partners can be hard to find, and I feel very lucky!
Thank you for featuring my bog!! <3
You’re welcome!
