This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
I took a bit of an unplanned hiatus this week, as you can probably see. I’m just kind of overwhelmed at this moment with writing and my homeschool co-op classes. All but one of my classes are done on April 7th, though, so things will be getting back to normal soon!
My mom and I went to our local March for Our Lives yesterday. I wasn’t sure how many people would show up to the local one, since they could head out to Chicago, but they’re estimating that 2000 people were there! We marched 3.5 miles in the freezing weather (my mom’s watch said 4.4, by the time everything was said and done), but it was great to be a part of this important cause.
Book Blogger Birthdays and Blogoversaries:
Here are the birthdays and blogoversaries this week! I hope you’ll go wish these bloggers well on their special days! Make sure you check out the calendar to see what you might have just missed or what’s coming up. (If you want to be added to the calendar, you can always fill out the birthday/blogoversary form.)
- March 31st – Greg @ Book Haven‘s Birthday
From NetGalley:
I got two books this week that I’ve been really anticipating: Legendary and The Way You Make Me Feel.
For Review:
Bring Me Their Hearts was a fun surprise from Entangled, and it even came with an amazing book sleeve! And then I got the audio of Children of Blood and Bone from Macmillan. I’m already listening to it, and it’s great so far!

I am sure you are super busy and the break was needed. That is awesome that many people were at your local march. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!
Some months seem to be crazier than others, and this was definitely one of the crazy ones!
Ooh lots of blogs celebrating 3 years. That’s awesome!
No worries about taking a bit of a hiatus; I’m sure you are quite busy these days but hopefully things will settle a bit once you’re classes are over.
That’s awesome your march had so many people!!! 🙂

It does seem to be a three year blogoversary extravaganza, doesn’t it?
Nicole, my apologies for vanishing from your blog! I miss this little corner of the Internet. It’s so cozy here. I think it’s actually really nice to take breaks in general. I am considering giving it a try perhaps because I am getting overwhelmed with my online religion classes and new article publishing website. How do you go about hiatus’? Like, do you stop commenting on blogs, too? Or do you still interact with people from other sites even though you’re not posting on your own website?
I am so happy you joined a march this weekend! I had too much anxiety to do that just yet.
Hoping to visit your blog more regularly. I just need to figure out how to manage my time a little better ( a lot better, actually).
Well, this unplanned hiatus was basically a hiatus from everything—posting, commenting, replying. I was just too crazy busy and couldn’t fit everything in! I’ve tried to make up for it this week by doing A LOT of visiting and commenting, though!
I’m sure you’ll be glad when things slow down a bit, Nicole. That’s awesome you went to the March for Our Lives. And congrats on your book haul. I look forward to seeing your thoughts on Children of Blood and Bone in particular.
Have a great week!
I’m loving the audiobook of CoBaB so far. The narration is done with an African-sounding accent, and it’s amazing to listen to!
OOh nice!! I was approved for Legendary on Netgalley earlier this month and read it promptly! Lol! Sooo good!! Hope you enjoy it too! Let me know when you’re done because OMG I need to talk with someone about it!! Lol!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Oooh! Good to know—I need to get right on it, then!
How cool that you marched! We’ve been talking about it too, I think it’s so important. And those kids in Florida, I’m so impressed to hear them speaking out. Good for the young. 🙂
Legendary just reminds me that I wanted to read Caraval but never actually bought it, so I need to do that. 🙂
Have a great week Nicole!
I’m really glad that the teenagers in Florida have managed to do what no one else has been able to and really organize the movement around gun control. The NRA is incredibly organized, and those of us who want gun control need to do the same if we want any results.
That’s awesome you went to the march! Bring Me Their Hearts does sound like a good book, and how cool that it even came with a book sleeve!
The book sleeve was a really fun surprise!
I wish I had money to pre-order some of those books in the list but alas, no goodies for me! I’m so proud of everyone participating in the March For Our Lives thing! I’m with you all in spirit and if I were there, would proudly march among you.
There are SO many awesome pre-order deals, right? It can be hard to resist!
I’m glad you made it out for the March! That’s so great that so many people showed up for a local march like that.
Yeah, I wasn’t sure how many people would turn out for the local one, so I was very pleasantly surprised!
That’s great that you and your mom attended a march. We didn’t do it but know lots of people who. Everybody we talked to said it was inspirational.
I just really feel like I need to actually start doing something about some of these issues that have bothered me for years. Instead of just sitting around and complaining about them.
Good call!
🙂
It’s cool that you went to the march. People around here love their guns, so I don’t think there were any marches nearby. I hope things get less overwhelming for you soon. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!
I’m sure it’s harder in some areas to participate in a march. My local one was only like a half mile from my house.
There’s an end in sight to the classes… hope things calm down for you then. That’s so great that you and your mom went to the March. It was so encouraging to see the amazing turn-outs, not just in D.C. but across the country. Thanks for the mention of my current giveaway! Hope you have a great week, Nicole.
Yes, I wasn’t sure how many people would show up for the local march, but it was a great turnout!
sorry to hear you feel overwhelmed at this moment. Glad you took a break from the blog because writing is important! We got a MG book to out on the shelves here 🙂 Cannot wait to here what you thought of CoBaB!
Ha! Yes, I definitely need to keep plugging along at the writing—if I set it aside for too long, it’s easy to let it falter.
Yeah for Legendary and The Way You Make Me Feel. I am really excited about both of those too!
I’ve heard that Legendary is really good—can’t wait to read it!
Sometimes a hiatus is well deserved and seems you’ve been busy with school-related business so it’s understandable taking a short break from blogging to focus on other stuff. Especially as you know there’s a set date for all of that to be finished. And then more time for blogging and reading! And I have been so amazed by the turn out to various March for our Lives events, I know it doesn’t affect me in the UK but it’s amazing seeing everyone out there calling out those in power. Hope you have a good week and enjoy your new books.
I was really happy that March for Our Lives brought so many people out in our local community!
I still need to read Caraval, and Children of Blood and Bone sounds good. Love that little book bag that came with the other book you got. Hope you have a good week!
I loved the book sleeve too—it was perfect because I have a couple of them and my daughter’s been asking for one, so I was able to give her that one. 🙂
I have been on a semi-slump for the last month and a half and I had the flu last week so I didn’t really have any discussions written up! Urrrghhh
I am celebrating my blogoversary/birthday next month. I still don’t know if I have any plans for that on my blog… LOL
I haven’t even tried for discussions lately—it’s getting sort of ridiculous at this point.
I took a sort of hiatus earlier this month too and ended up feeling guilty even though I was helpless about it. But I am glad that you didn’t take a long one like I did.
Sometimes we all need a break!
totally jealous of Legendary haha.
I need to get to it! Soon!!
I can’t wait to see what you think of Legendary! Arielle, on our blog, read and loved!! So fingers crossed you end up thinking it’s just as spectacular too! And that book sleeve is so pretty, what an amazing surprise. ♥
I really need to pick it up soon! So many books to read!
