Sunday Post: Book Pre-order Incentives & Giveaways Galore – 10/28/18

Posted October 28, 2018 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Sunday Post / 28 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

Yesterday, I attended SCBWI’s (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) Prairie Writer’s and Illustrator’s Day. I really enjoyed this event and especially found the sessions on Pitching with Deborah Warren at East West Literary especially helpful.

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

Book Blogger Birthdays and Blogoversaries:

Birthday-150 Blogoversary-150x150

Here are the birthdays and blogoversaries for this week! I hope you’ll go wish these bloggers well on their special days! Make sure you check out the calendar to see what you might have just missed or what’s coming up. (If you want to be added to the calendar, it’s easy! Just fill out the birthday/blogoversary form.)

Book-Haul

NetGalley/Edelweiss:

I’ve been good about reading some of my backlist review books lately, so I rewarded myself by requesting a few books. 🙂

Firestarter by Tara Sim was an absolute no-brainer for me because I LOVE this series!! Evelyn Skye is also an author I adore, so of course I needed Circle of Shadows. And I joined the tour for War of Storms, the third book in Erica Cameron’s Ryogan Chronicles.

For Review:

Okay, I broke the cardinal rule of book blogging here, people. I downloaded a book that was randomly emailed to me, unsolicited. I know, I know, I shouldn’t encourage authors to do this. But I read the blurb, and I was intrigued. So, I decided to download it and check it out, putting absolutely no pressure on myself to keep reading if I’m not into it. (I’m not even counting it in my tally of review books for the month. And I didn’t even tell the author I’m reading it, and I won’t mention it unless I like it. Is that better or worse?) Am I crazy? Probably. Anyway, it’s A Murder of Crows by A. Kirke. We shall see…

Great Discussions/Goings On Around the Blogosphere:

Listed in order of release date. Any new deals that I just added to the list this week will be denoted with a *** so you can easily find them!

Please note: Almost all pre-order giveaways run “while supplies last,” so I can’t guarantee that they’ll be open until the date listed. Pre-0rder early for your best chance to get all the goodies!

  1. Ooh nice new reads! I still have yet to read Circle of Shadows despite being approved of it months ago! I keep trying to read review books that are more current and current releases and throwing in a few older books too because I am seriously slacking on my TBR challenge! I might not make that one this year! eek!

Hope you enjoy all of your lovely new reads!

    Have a GREAT day!

    • Oh, I have this problem all the time. I can’t tell you the number of book I have that I’ve been approved for for months—I think part of the problem is that I don’t want to read them right away because it’s too early, and then my interest wanes by the time we get close to release. And I just have too darn many books. 🙂

  2. You had a really interesting week! I would love attending these kind of events. The only one close to home and that may be bigger than the one above was YALC London. I loved it! Thanks for the links too! Happy Sunday 😉

  3. That event sounds so much fun. 🙂 I hope you enjoy your new books. After so long without requesting anything, one deserves to click the “request” button. =P A Murder of Crows seems quite an interesting book (I couldn’t resist reading the synopsis and it is so intriguing). I think I’d also download it.

    Wishes of a great week.

  4. I’ve done that taking unsolicited books, but usually I do let the author or whoever sent it know that I am going to try it. That one looks interesting, will have to see what you think about it. I also am enjoying all the conferences you’re going to! Stealing the ideas you share when they are ones that work for me. Have a great week!
