This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates the holiday! We’re spending a low-key day at church (where most of the family is serving for all the services) and at home, my dad being our only guest. We prefer holidays that way, honestly.
This week, I shared some of my new WIP with my writing critique group. I honestly was really scared to do it because I still feel like this manuscript is sort of a mess (I’m not writing it in order), so it was hard to figure out what to share. And rough draft verse feels very rough indeed in some instances. But they were incredibly encouraging, and it’s inspired me to keep going! Writing verse has been difficult but fulfilling. 🙂
Not much else to report. As expected, our 6 inches of snow from last Sunday is already long gone (it was mostly melted by Monday). Today is supposed to be in the mid-seventies, so I’m excited for some warm weather!!
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

Book Haul:
Won:
I won Lisa @ Lisa Loves Literature’s weekly giveaway of her giveaway/trade books (she has one going on right now, too, so make sure you enter!). I was able to choose two books, and I chose Amal Unbound and My So-Called Bollywood Life. Then she sent me a surprise book: How We Fall, which I was super excited about because I’ve been meaning to read Kate Brauning for years!
Purchased:
I bought a copy of Danielle Hammelef’s Movie Careers. She was nice enough to allow me to purchase it from Amazon and have it sent to her so she could sign (and personalize) it for me and send it my way! 🙂
From NetGalley:
Another book I couldn’t resist this week. We Contain Multitudes sounds like the type of book I love!

Happy Easter! 🙂 It’s always scaring to show to other people one’s writing. That has always been one of my biggest fears. But it must be amazing to be part of a supportive writing group.
Wishes of a great week. 🙂
Tânia @MyLovelySecret
Yes, it’s wonderful to have a group that I can get feedback (and support!) from.
WOW! That’s a fantastic pre-order incentive list…I’ve actually ordered a couple of those already but didn’t know about the campaigns!
Oh, I’m really glad I could help you then! You wouldn’t want to miss out!
Happy Easter to you too Nicole! And sharing his work, his creation is always a stressful process!
So true!
Nice!! Glad you’re getting some critiquing for your manuscript. That’s awesome! I can imagine it being difficult to write in verse. I’m not even sure I could attempt to write like that! Lol! Hope you have a nice quiet holiday as expected!
Congrats on your win too! Hope you enjoy all the new lovelies!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
It helps to get feedback and a little boost in confidence. 🙂
Happy Easter! We actually aren’t doing anything really, but hanging out! 🙂
Enjoy your week.
We had a nice day without a lot of fuss–that’s pretty much ideal.
Happy Easter! Yay for good feedback and warm weather!
Thank you!
Happy Easter to you and your family! We enjoyed a warm day outside before a delicious dinner.
Glad you enjoyed the day!
Happy Easter to you and your family. We spent a quiet day at home, just the three of us. My daughter got to search for Easter eggs and we played games and went for a walk. Congratulations on your bookish wins! I hope you have a wonderful week!
Sometimes those types of holidays are the very nicest. 🙂
Happy Easter!! It was an absolutely gorgeous day here, and I hope it was there too! And low key holdays can be the best. 🙂
I agree. We had a really nice day together, doing nothing all that amazing. 🙂
Happy Easter and congratulations on your win.
Have a great reading week, I hope the good weather continues
Thank you!!
Happy Easter Nicole! Here’s to the good weather remaining!
Thanks!!
I hope you had a lovely Easter. That’s great you got some good feedback from your writing group. You can do it!! I really want to read We Contain Multitudes; I hope you enjoy it.
-Lauren
Thanks for the encouragement!
All of our snow is melted too. I hope you had a good Easter! Sharing new writing is always nerve-wracking, so I’m glad your writing group was supportive. Have a great week!
I agree–it’s one thing to show something that’s relatively polished, but new stuff is way harder!
I hope you had a wonderful Easter. I’m glad to hear about the encouragement from your writing group. It’s important to have a solid support system 🙂 It also sounds like you have some great new books to read. I hope you enjoy them!
So true! We all need encouragement from time to time.
Low key holidays are nice. I hope you had a lovely Easter. Glad you shared your writing. It is a good thing. Have a wonderful week!
I agree. Sometimes it’s nice to just relax for a holiday instead of having things be hectic.
Happy Easter! I didn’t do anything for the holiday but stay home while my family went to my in-laws. I did watch a whole bunch of TV, though, which was nice. 🙂
Glad there was a silver lining! 🙂
I hope you had a good Easter Sunday and Easter Monday as well! I have to say, this was the first time I wasn’t at home for Easter so it was rather… quiet? I didn’t even have any chocolate, just church and seeing everyone there! I have heard really good things about Amal Unbound so I hope you enjoy that book!
No chocolate for Easter? That’s practically heresy. I guess you did go to church, so we’ll let it slide. 😉
How lovely to have Easter with your family and finally spring weather. Have a wonderfule week!
Here is my Sunday Post
We’ve finally been warming up around here finally.
YAY for warmer weather! We have the same out here, 70s during the day and then 30s at night. I’ll take it! Although we’re supposed to get another storm next week, winter just won’t die lol. I’m so happy you had such a wonderful Easter with family and here’s wishing you a fabulous week!
Yeah, we still had one more big snow. I hope now we’re REALLY done.
Yay for warmer weather! We’ve been in mid 80s -90s lately but we had a random couple days where it was cold. It’s been a little annoying. I hope you had a wonderful Easter. I like to keep holidays and birthday parties as small as possible. I hope you had a wonderful week.
Wow, already in the 90s! I’m jealous!!
