This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
I went to go see the musical Come From Away with my mom and mother-in-law last Sunday! The show was fabulous! I knew it was going to totally tug at my heartstrings, but I ended up being really surprised at how funny it also was. I spent a lot more time laughing than crying—a tough balance with a show about 9/11.
We’re making headway on the deck! We had about half the new deck done as of yesterday. Some parts of it have been slow going (the old framing isn’t totally square, which has caused some difficulties), but Friday and yesterday, we really got into a good rhythm and we got a lot accomplished. I’ll share a picture next week when it will (hopefully) be done.

Aw, sorry the purple isn’t working for you. 🙁 I will say that it’s more upkeep than I realized—in order to keep it looking purple, I have to put in a purple conditioner on the dry hair before I shower (like every other time). It fades fast otherwise!

Thanks for posting the pre-order campaigns and giveaways! There’s a couple books I’m thinking about pre-ordering right now, and sometimes the pre-order giveaways push me into buying now instead of waiting and getting it from the library or when it’s on sale.
That’s definitely true for me too. Sometimes that pre-order giveaway is the little extra nudge I needed to make the purchase.
I think it’s so important to balance something sad with some humor and joy. Glad your and your mom enjoyed the show, and yeah! for progress on the deck.

The musical sounds like such fun!! It’s been quite a while since I’ve been to one.
I went years without seeing a musical, and then in the past couple of years I’ve been to three and remembered why I love them so much!

i know what you mean about review books.i try to limit myself. i have done a great job of keeping up with net galley, but it took me a while. i don’t even look at it most of the time because i know i will go click crazy. i am getting inundated with horror review requests and did quite a few for october, but haven’t even checked out the most recent. i have a hard time saying no when most everything sounds good to me. lol

I know! It’s horrible, especially when I get requests from the publishers because so many books sound great and I’d LOVE to say yes to them all. But I’m trying hard to stick to my guns and not accept anything new right now, at least until I get my numbers in balance between books received and reviewed.
I love to hear about blogoversaries! It seems more people leave blogging so it’s great when someone is able to stick around.
