The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.
This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
- My anniversary! My husband and I celebrated our 22nd anniversary on Friday and went out to a restaurant for the first time since COVID. Here’s to 22 more years (and then even more)!
- Stuff? Honestly, nothing else particularly noteworthy happened this week. I did some more gardening, college search stuff, etc. But nothing particularly exciting to talk about. We got our first flower in the garden—it’s amazing how excited I was about one little bloom!
Here’s our first flower. And can anyone help me identify the second plant? Is this a flower or a weed? I don’t know! (The only things that I don’t think have come up yet are Jeweled Crown Iris, Birch Double Cranesbill and some kind of Phlox. Could this be phlox? I don’t know if I’m just letting a weed grow rampant!)
- What I Read:
- I’m still reading a MG manuscript from my critique partner Ari.
- I read Creating Moments of Joy Along the Alzheimer’s Journey: A Guide for Families and Caregivers. This book has been really helpful for figuring out how to talk to my mother-in-law, who’s in memory care. Then I read Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean.
- I finished listening to We Could Be Heroes and then listened to Sunny Song Will Never Be Famous.
- TV We Watched:
- America’s Next Top Model. I moved onto season 5 this week.
- Supernatural. We finished season 11—it was our favorite in a long time! Now we’re watching season 12.
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

Cheers to 22 years! I am glad you got to celebrate with a dinner out this year. It’s so hard when our loved ones are dealing with memory loss. I hope that book you are reading is helpful. Full cast recordings are fun. Can’t wait to hear what you think about Phoebe and her Unicorn.
Yes, it has really been a struggle dealing with my mother-in-law’s memory issues. Simple conversations are difficult now, and she really doesn’t have a strong grip on reality anymore. The hardest part is that she always thinks that she’s at a hotel (or sometimes something as crazy as jail!), and she’s wondering why we won’t come pick her up.
I love that you keep track of blogger’s birthdays. Mine is OCtober 7.That audio book makes me want to pick up a couple of kids books.
Awesome! I’ll add you to my list. Feel free to fill out my form, so that I’ll also be sure to make note of your blogoversary when it’s time. You can find it here – http://feedyourfictionaddiction.com/2015/11/let-me-know-your-birthday-and-blogoversary.html.
Happy anniversary! I hope you have a great week.
Thank you!
Congrats on your anniversary! We haven’t gone inside a restaurant yet and don’t plan to for quite awhile, even though we are fully vaxed. Cinders of Yesterday is not by Natalie Mae, just to let everyone know.
Thanks for the correction about the author for Cinders of Yesterday—this is one of the drawbacks of using cut & paste to start a new entry in my list. 🙂
We are starting to get back to some normal activities. The restaurant was nice – we did still sit outdoors, though.
Happy anniversary! We weren’t going to restaurants when we celebrated our anniversary earlier this year but we’ve since gone to a couple (and have been very choosy about where/when we go). So next year for sure!
It definitely felt strange to be at a restaurant. We were even outside, but it still seemed so odd. But good!
Happy anniversary! We may venture out to belated celebrate my daughter’s birthday this week. I have an app on my phone called Picture This which identifies plants / weeds. You may want to try something like that. I have about 800 varieties of weeds in my lawn so I needed some help.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
We actually did end up using Picture This to identify it right after I posted this (and yes, it is a weed!). I had another app, but it wasn’t nearly as useful. I think I’ll have to do the paid version of the Picture This app because we have so many plants and weeds to identify!
Happy anniversary! I still haven’t been out to a restaurant since the pandemic. Sigh. Hopefully sometime soon!
It was both wonderful and strange to be at a restaurant!
Happy 22 years! That’s great you got to celebrate it 🙂
Thank you!
Happy Anniversary! Yay for 22 years! I’m glad you were able to get out a bit and celebrate. Thanks for sharing my giveaways! I appreciate it.
Lauren
Happy Anniversary! My husband and I will be celebrating our 22nd as well in July. Incidentally, we also get our second dose of the vaccine that day, so yay! Let’s hope we won’t be down for the count so we can celebrate. 🙂
Have a great week, Nicole!
My husband and I didn’t feel too bad the day of our second vaccine, but I wasn’t feeling great the next day.
Happy anniversary!!!! And I have that same problem- i don’t always know the weeds from the flowers ha!
Have a great week 🙂
I have no idea about the plant. Happy anniversary.
Congrats on 22 years! That is awesome! While I can’t help you name the flower, I recently downloaded an app that I’ve been taking pictures of all the plants in my yard with and finding out what they are. It’s how I figured out I have poison ivy, yuck. Hope you get it figured out and are having a good week!
Happy anniversary!!
I have Tokyo Ever After on hold. I’ve heard great things.
My father was in memory care and it’s a very difficult thing for everyone.

Happy Anniversary! We celebrated 24 years on June 14th and yes, it was so nice to be able to eat inside our favorite restaurant again! 🙂 Happy reading in June!
Happy Anniversary, congratulations on 22 years! And yay for your first flower! My favorite book about alzheimer/dementia, so I knew how to best interact with my Grandparents was The 36-Hour Day. It was a lifesaver and gave me such a better understanding of every moment I’d spend with them. Hugs♥
