The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.
This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
The kids celebrated a made-up Grandmother’s Day for my mom, since they felt bad that we always celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day but we never celebrate her. Since she lives with us basically half the time, she’s practically another mom for them, and they wanted to say thanks. My mom thought it was so sweet of them to do that!
Not much else interesting happened this week, except Danielle came back from her trip to Yellowstone, and we were all excited to hear about it! Also, my father-in-law sold his house here in Illinois (they have another one in Arizona), so my husband made a few trips there and picked up some things, including a couch to replace the very old couch we have in our office.
- What I Read:
- I finished reading my AMM mentee’s latest draft of her MG manuscript straight through and now I’m reading it one more time to add some line edit notes. It is fabulous—I am looking forward to the day when I can congratulate her on getting published!
- I’m still reading Jane, Unlimited by Kristin Cashore, but I’m having a little trouble getting into it. This might be the type of book I need to listen to instead.
- I started listening to The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune.
- I also finished listening to The Making of Biblical Womanhood by Beth Allison Barr. Since I probably won’t do an actual review of this book, I wanted to give a little plug for it here. If you’re a Christian, you should read this book. Even if you end up disagreeing with the book, we all need to be examining where many Christian ideas about womanhood come from. I learned so much from this book!
- TV We Watched:
- Supernatural. Now that Danielle’s back from her trip to Yellowstone, we started watching season 13 again. We’re almost through!
- America’s Next Top Model. I’m now in season 11!
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

Your kids are so sweet! I started and never finished Jane, Unlimited. I hope it picks up for you.
Uh oh. That makes me nervous. I thought I was further, but when I looked at my bookmark and saw I was only on page 63 I was slightly horrified. I could swear I’d been reading forever! Honestly, though, these types of books often work better for me as audiobooks, so I might just need to send the book off to my Make Me Read It Giveaway winner and then listen to the audiobook instead.
My surprise Grandmother’s Day was wonderful! I loved every minute of it. I have the best grandkids ever! ❤️
They’re pretty awesome. 🙂
Love the Grandmother’s Day idea and I think it’s so sweet that you highlight other book bloggers’ blogiversaries!!
Have a great week ahead 🙂
How sweet to celebrate Grandmother’s Day 🙂
Happy reading this week, I’ve seen The House in the Cerulean Sea around blog-land and the cover is eye catching.
They celebrated Grandparent’s Day at my daughter’s school in September. I hope she had a great time at Yellowstone. Happy reading!
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
They actually did look it up and find that there’s an official Grandparent’s Day in September, but they decided to stick with this one since that date is really close to my mom’s birthday.
Your kids are so sweet. I would love to half live with my daughter when she has kids. Thanks for including a link to my giveaway at Literary Rambles. There’s lots of good ones going on. It’s great that you keep up with them. Natalie @ Literary Rambles
There is an official Grandparent’s Day in September. I only know that because my grandma would get irritated at me for forgetting it. Calendar makers need to include it on their calendars if the world expects me to remember it!
Oh! Grandmother’s Day! How sweet of them!
Aww that’s cool about Grandmother’s Day- what a neat idea! And good luck to your mentee’s work as well- it will be so amazing for them to get published someday. 🙂
I’m curious about that Christian book as well. With everything going on in the world it seems so timely and relevant.
The audiobook of The House in the Cerulean Sea is so great. I listened to it earlier this year.
Your kids are so sweet with the Grandmother’s Day!
I think it’s important we know where habits/traditions/ideas/etc come from whether or not we agree with them or practice them. It helps us to understand, and that’s sorely lacking in a lot of places right now. I can totally understand that not being a book you’re likely to review, though.
