Sunday Post 26

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead. Last week on FYFA (and in my life): Another busy week in our household. We went on a field trip this week to see a really fun acrobatics show and then Friday night I chaperoned a sleepover lock-in for the 5th graders at our church. A crazy time was had by all! (Including my youngest.) I’m actually exhausted while writing this right now, but that’s okay. I’ve also been hard at work on another editing project! Anyway, here’s what you may have missed last week: My New Design!! – Find out what inspired my new look and some other fun facts! Top Twelve Bookish Movies I Still Need… Read more »

Firewalker by Josephine Angelini – Review

Firewalker by Josephine Angelini – Review

Reviews 12 ★★★½

Firewalker is the second book in the Worldwalker trilogy, and unfortunately it suffered from just a bit of middle book syndrome. That’s not to say that it didn’t advance the series at all – I just felt like it took a little too much time to get there. Still, if you’re a fan of the series, you’ll definitely want to pick this one up. There are some major revelations about Lillian and a few new characters added who (I”m assuming) will play a role in the final book of the trilogy. What fed my addiction: Lillian’s motivations. A good portion of this book was Lily (slowly) learning what led Lillian to her decisions and how she became the “villain” in her world. Since Lily is Lillian, these revelations were pretty important for her – she needed to understand how she could possibly get to a place where she would start murdering people – so… Read more »

Top Twelve Bookish Movies I Still Need to See

Top Twelve Bookish Movies I Still Need to See

Top Ten Tuesday 28

I know this post is a day late, but I had it like 90% done, and then managed to get in a fender bender with a parked car in a parking lot, which kind of ruined my day, and I never got around to posting it. Since I put the effort in to create graphics, I figured I might as well still post it!! Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten (Twelve) Books to Movies I Can’t Wait to See (or Still Need to See) When I was younger, I went to the movies ALL THE TIME. Now – not so much. I’m lucky when I catch movies on Netflix, and I often forget about them before I manage to see them. Still, if there are any movies that I still make an effort to see, it’s book-to-movie adaptations, and I have a list of some I haven’t managed to get to yet or… Read more »

My New Design!!

My New Design!!

Let's Discuss 64

Hey, everybody. If you’re here right now, you’ve probably noticed that things look a little different than they used to! I am SO excited to unveil my new design. The header artwork was done by Tabitha over at Not Yet Read. She has a feature on her blog called Art it Up, and I have long been drooling over her adorable designs. When I got the idea of redesigning the site, she was the first person I thought of!! If you’ve never checked out Tabitha’s artwork, go do it now! You should follow her on Instagram and then you won’t miss out on any of her new work. She also sells some of her artwork on Etsy (she’s planning on putting even more up there after her next craft fair), so go and follow her shop! Some  fun facts about my new design: Hopefully you noticed that the FYFA fox… Read more »

Sunday Post 21

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead. Last week on FYFA (and in my life): Not much posted this week because I was hard at work writing a play for my musical theatre homeschool co-op class. I don’t know why I got the idea into my head to write one myself – how do I get myself into these things!? (Well, actually I do know how I got the idea into my head – I wanted to just use regular contemporary Christian songs instead of the kids’ choir songs in the plays we’ve been using.) Of course, I procrastinated good and hard before jumping into writing the play. I still need to go back and do some… Read more »

Forget Tomorrow by Pintip Dunn – Review & Dunn’s Top Ten Addictions

Forget Tomorrow by Pintip Dunn – Review & Dunn’s Top Ten Addictions

Author Top Ten Lists, Reviews 16 ★★★★

Forget Tomorrow is an exhilarating new sci-fi dystopian set in a world where everyone knows the future – at least a snippet of it. Callie’s spent her life waiting to turn seventeen so she can see with absolute certainty what she’ll make of herself. This is because, in her society, when a person turns seventeen they receive a memory from their future selves – the memory that Callie’s future self believes will best guide her toward her fate. But Callie’s memory is of something she will do anything to avoid. The question is, can she thwart fate or will all of her actions inevitably end in a tragic result no matter what she does? What fed my addiction: Fate vs. free will. As you can probably guess based on the synopsis, the question of fate versus free will plays a huge role in this book. People in Callie’s society put complete faith… Read more »

The Book of Ivy and The Revolution of Ivy by Amy Engel – Review and Engel’s Top Ten Addictions

The Book of Ivy and The Revolution of Ivy by Amy Engel – Review and Engel’s Top Ten Addictions

Author Top Ten Lists, Reviews 9 ★★★★½

When I heard that The Revolution of Ivy was being released, I knew it was time to pick up the first book – I’d bought it at the beginning of the year because I heard so many raving reviews of it, but I was holding off on actually reading it because I’d heard about that cliffhanger and I heard the series was a duology. I figured why not wait for the conclusion? And this was my chance! Well, The Book of Ivy definitely lived up to my high expectations! This book had me turning the pages at a furious rate and I stayed up way too late reading it! The book follows Ivy, who has been told her whole life that her family’s enemy is her own. She’s known for the past two years that she would be marrying the president’s son – and that she would need to kill… Read more »

Sunday Post 8

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead. Last week on FYFA (and in my life): Oops! Due to a scheduling snafoo this post is going up a bit late (I apparently scheduled it for tomorrow)!! Halloween means lots of fun for the kids – even though they’re getting older, they still love Halloween and everything involved! My older two got to go to an overnight event at our church the night before – they literally stay up all night, so they were pretty tired for Halloween! Nothing else too new this week, except that I started editing Allie Juliette Mousseau’s next book in the Brothers of Ink and Steel series – I love it when I’m… Read more »
