Last week on FYFA (and in my life):
I’ve been sick since Wednesday, which is very unusual for me. Usually when I catch something, I get over it quick! So, I’ve been sort of wallowing in my misery. But at least I’ve gotten a lot of books read! (And, thank goodness my mom is around in the evenings, since my husband is out of town. She’s been carting the kids around for me, which I really appreciate!)
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog last week:
- New York Nights by C.J. Duggan – Review
- Bite-Sized Reviews of RoseBlood, Frost and The Glittering Court
- February Discussion Challenge Link-Up & Giveaway – Link up your February discussions and enter to win!
- Caraval by Stephanie Garber: Audiobook Review
- January Recap – Find out what you might have missed in January on the blog and what my favorite January read was. Plus, see an update on my challenges!
Next week on FYFA:
I was going to do some planning for my birthday/blogoversary giveaway, but being sick has thrown me off. Hopefully I’ll get something up next week, but I had a thought in my head about something good and haven’t had a chance to work on it, so … I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet.
- By Your Side and The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West – Review (I know I said I’d do this last week, but … my bed was calling to me more than the blog)
- A birthday/blogoversary celebration?? (read my note just above)
- A guest post from Hannah at Inkitt, a publishing company that works in a unique way!
- Let’s Discuss: Something bookish! 🙂
Book Blogger Birthdays and Blogoversaries:
Head on over and wish these bloggers well on their special days! Check out the calendar to see what you might have just missed or what’s coming up. (If you want to be added to the calendar, you can always fill out the birthday/blogoversary form!)
This week’s events:
- February 5th – A Bottomless Book Bag‘s Blogoversary
- February 9th – Alyssa @ Book Huntress’ World‘s Birthday
- February 9th – Kim @ kimberlyfaye reads‘ Birthday
- February 11th – Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction’s Blogoversary!!! (Yep, that’s me!) EDIT: OKAY, APPARENTLY I CAN’T KEEP MY OWN EVENTS STRAIGHT. THE 11th IS MY BIRTHDAY, NOT MY BLOGOVERSARY (in case you’re wondering why I listed my blogoversary two weeks in a row). It’s not like I’m expected to keep my own birthday/blogoversary straight, right? 🙂
For Review:
Thanks so much to Fabled Films Press for The Fallen Star, the third book in the MG Nocturnals Series. These books are so cute!

Yes, the one benefit of being sick—lots of reading!
I hope you feel better soon. Happy Blogiversary!
Thanks, AJ!
I just now realized I got my OWN event wrong in the calendar, so all my friends must think I’m crazy—I already posted about my blogoversary last week on the 31st. This week is my birthday. Um, oops?
Get well soon, Nicole!! Happy blogoversary!!
Thanks. I’m feeling a lot better today. Not 100% but much better!
Hope you feel better soon! And yay your blogoversary is coming up!! Nice new reads!! So excited for Burning World! I loved Warm Bodies! I saw it on the shelf at B&N…saw a lot of Tuesday releases there. It basically reminded me to preorder them all! LOL! Hope you enjoy the new reads!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Thanks, Jessica! Hope your blogoversary celebration is going strong!!
Hang in there. It is wonderful that your mom is willing and able to help out with the kids. Being sick as a mom is the WORST. I’m trying to encourage my husband to take a trip this summer, because I’ve gotten the last two solo “vacations” (a teacher conference and a writing retreat), but in the back of my head I’m kind of terrified about spending several days as the only parent. I have so much respect for single parents.
Okay, I seem to be wandering here. I have been having trouble blogging lately, so this weekend I’m just trying to spend time visiting blogs and seeing how everyone is doing. Your discussion link-up is a great resource for that–people were on FIRE in January! I hope you feel better soon, and we’re all looking forward to your blogoversary/birthday shenanigans.
Shenanigans is a good word for it! I think that about sums up my blog in general. 🙂 I agree that the idea of single-parenting is insane to me. I have friends whose husbands travel all the time—I couldn’t handle it!
Oh no. I hope you feel better soon! <3
Thanks. It seems like yesterday I finally turned a corner and am feeling better.
It is nice that your Mom is there to help you. My Mom is not able to drive anymore, so that’s not helpful, but she does help with the babies with the morning routine. She is in Florida now but will be back on the 17th. I hope my son can handle the mornings without her….we’ll see.
I hope you feel better soon. You kind of have to feel better because you are not allowed to be sick on your birthday. That’s a real rule, for real. Get some rest and drink lots of water.
Have a good week!
I actually am feeling a lot better finally. My nose is still a bit stuffed, but that’s about it. Should be nice and healthy for my birthday!
Happy Blogoversary, if I haven’t already said this. 🙂 I hope you are starting to feel better. I just hate being sick!! Getting a lot read is a nice by product of that though.
-Lauren
Yes—have to look at the silver lining!
My fifth blogoversary is this month. Time flies…..You sure have some great looking new reads. So sorry you’ve been ill and yeah to mother for being there to help:)
Wow! Five years! That’s exciting!
Here’s hoping you start feeling better soon! Thank goodness for books and family helping out when one is sick. ♥ My oldest just came down with a fever, cough/cold Friday night and it’s still holding on strong BOO.
And Happy Blogiversary *throws confetti and shares some of our triple chocolate cookies with you*. 🙂
I’m used to getting sick and then bouncing back the next day, but this one just kept lingering. The worst part was that it totally sapped my energy. Thanks for those triple chocolate cookies, by the way. Yum! 🙂
It seems like everyone is sick right now. Hope you feel better! And happy birthday this week! Hope it’s a good one. I’ll have to check out those Epic Reads recaps- that’s good to know. 🙂
Yes, I hadn’t realized that Epic Reads did those–there don’t seem to be a ton of them, but they sure do come in handy sometimes.
Oh, Nicole, I hope you start feeling better! The ick is going all around right now. Thank goodness for your mom to take the kids around. I can’t imagine how stressful life would be right now without her. And happy early birthday!
I’m sure working in a school, you see ALL the sicknesses of ever! Thanks for the well-wishes!
I hope you feel better! I’ve also came down with a cold. 🙁 Happy early birthday!
Seems like lots of people are sick lately. It’s that time of year! I’m mostly recovered, finally, so I hope you are soon too!
Happy blogoversary, Nicole! So sorry that you’ve been sick. Sounds like whatever this is has taken you down hard. I sure hope you feel better this week. I’m looking forward to your Kasie West reviews when you get to them! 🙂
I’m finally feeling better, but it felt like it took forever! I’ll probably get those Kasie West reviews up tomorrow. 🙂
I love your wrap ups so much! One of my blog goals is to comment more and lurk less, so Hopefully you will actually see me around a lot more, rather than just silently lurking 🙂
I’m glad you love them! These posts are fun for me, and I love it when people tell me they’re helpful! I totally understand the need to stop lurking … sometimes we get so busy that that’s all we can manage. But I look forward to seeing more of you!
I love the cover of La La Land. Happy early blogoversary, and I hope you feel better 🙂
Have a wonderful week.
Thanks so much, Aneta! I’m finally back to normal (well, as normal as I get). 🙂
