This past week on FYFA (and in my life):
Between homeschooling and an editing project I’m currently working on, my week was packed! But I still found time to attend an Adam Silvera/Lauren Oliver event with my mom to celebrate her birthday. Very fun!
On the 11th, NetGalley is featuring me on their blog for their YA Blogger Spotlight! Make sure you check it out!!
Here’s what you may have missed on the blog this past week:
- Invictus by Ryan Graudin: Review & Giveaway (Plus My Invictus Haiku)
- Quick Recap of the Adam Silvera/Lauren Oliver Author Event (& a Giveaway!)
- September Wrap-Up Round-Up Giveaway (with a Make Me Read It Twist)
For those of you who are really observant and noticed that I said I was going to be posting about YA Brooding Hero this week, it’s still coming! I saw that the official release date got pushed back to October 17th, so I decided to post that day.
Next week on FYFA:

Here are the birthdays and blogoversaries this week! I hope you’ll go wish these bloggers well on their special days! Pre-order Goodies:
I pre-ordered One Dark Throne and got these awesome playing cards. I requested that my local library purchase YA Brooding Hero and got pre-order goodies because of that too! (Read Carrie DiRisio’s post about why library pre-orders are so important and request from your library too! Since the release got pushed back to the 17th, you still have time to get the fun swag!)
Great Discussions/Goings On Around the Blogosphere:
- Cait @ Paper Fury tells us How To Outline Your Novel (Without Biting Your Own Head Off)
- Make sure you check out this year’s Shattering Stigmas event, which puts the spotlight on mental health in YA.
- Sophie @ Books Like Wolves tells us why she thinks Bloggers are the most honest of the species.

Congrats on being featured! And I’m very envious you got to see Adam Silvera. Have a great week!
Thanks, AJ! I’m excited that NetGalley chose to feature me!
I meant to put this in the Lauren/Adam post, but happy birthday to your mom!! 🙂
It definitely sounds like you’ve had a long week. I totally meant to start working on my novel again this past week and…that did not happen. So yeah, I need to get on that!
-Lauren
I completely understand—sometimes picking up and starting the writing is the hardest part!
I didn’t realize the release date of One Dark Throne got pushed back! I might still be able to get it read before the 17th. 🙂
It’s the release of YA Brooding Hero that got pushed back. Sorry to disappoint! 🙂
Adam must have traveled almost directly to Austin. I saw him on Saturday at Texas Teen Book Festival. Congrats on being featured on NetGalley!! How exciting! I hope this week slows down a little for you.
He mentioned that was where he was headed next. And he and Lauren had just come from another city the day before, too!
Very awesome pre-order goodies!!
As always! They can be very tempting!!
Congrats on the spotlight! That is awesome. I hope you have a good week
Thanks, Kim!
Congratulations on the Netgalley feature!! I recommended Brooding YA Hero for my library and I hope they get it. I hope you have a great week!
Yay! I’m glad you requested it from your library! Mine actually already received their copy, and the book hasn’t even technically released yet. (The author warned that that might happen with the date change and said it was fine.)
Oh wow!! Congrats on the Netgalley feature! That’s so cool!! Yay for pre-order gifts too! Loving the cards myself!
Here’s my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I have a feeling the NetGalley feature might be because I wrote that post awhile back with newbie NetGalley advice. It’s exciting!
Congratulations on the Netgalley feature. You’re awesome and so is that.
Thanks, Sam! I was pretty excited to be featured!
The Lauren Oliver/ Adam Silvera event sounds fun! I just got Oliver’s latest and can’t wait to read it. And yay for the Netgalley appearance- congrats!!
I’m looking forward to that YA Brooding Hero post too. 🙂
I’m excited to read Ringer (and the first book, but the name is escaping me at the moment).
How awesome to be featured on the NetGalley blog! I’ve made a note to check for that on Wednesday. And what a great outing for your mom’s birthday. I love how the two of you share your love of books and reading. 🙂
Aw, thanks for making note of it. It’s pretty exciting to be featured in such a prominent place!
My week was packed with stuff too! Mostly, also, editing, so I feel you on that one. 🙂
I feel like it’s so hard to carve out time for editing. I’m no good at doing it between other things.
I had NO clue Netgalley had a blog lol! So that was such a fun interview to read, and congratulations for being featured on their site! Then I went and read so many of their other articles, thanks for the eye opener!
I’m glad I helped you find it!
