Sunday Post: Book Pre-order Campaigns & Giveaways Galore – 1/5/20

Posted January 5, 2020 by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction in Sunday Post / 40 Comments

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on my blog and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead.

This past week on FYFA (and in my life):

Happy New Year!! Wishing all of my readers a fantabulous 2020!!

I started off New Year’s Eve by going to see Mean Girls the Musical with my mom and my daughter Danielle. The show was so much fun and technically interesting too—I especially loved the way that they projected a lot of the scenery onto the backdrops. I wish I would have known the music ahead of time, though—I’ve decided that I prefer when I’m more familiar with the songs when I see a show.

We’ve also been watching the Harry Potter movies this week. So far, we’ve watched four of them. It’s been a great family activity.

I finished that edit I’ve been working on, so now I plan to switch gears back to my own book again (need to get writing!). I’ve got to set myself some solid goals for this month (and beyond)!

Here’s what you may have missed on the blog since my last Sunday Post:

And just a reminder that you can still sign up for the 2020 Book Blog Discussion Challenge!

Book Blogger Birthdays and Blogoversaries:

Book Haul:

NetGalley/Edelweiss:

I’ve been forgetting to update you guys on my NetGalley and Edelweiss hauls for the past few weeks. Here’s what I’ve gotten:

Infinity Son is written by Adam Silvera, and that’s pretty much all I need to know. It’s Adam’s first fantasy!! Cover designed by Erin Fitzsimmons with art by Kevin Tong. Thanks, HarperTeen!

Of Curses and Kisses is Sandhya Menon’s newest, a contemporary Beauty and the Beast retelling! (I had to search high and low for the cover illustrator for this one—it’s Petra Braun with lettering artist Saskia Bueno.) Thanks, Simon & Schuster!

I signed up for the tour for Malice by Pintip Dunn. I’ve always loved her books, and this one sounds similar to her others: sci-fi with a bit of time-travel? (Or at least a voice from the future.) Thank you, Entangled Teen!

I’ll admit that I requested If We Were Giants purely because it’s written by Dave Matthews (along with Clete Barrett Smith) and nostalgia for the 90’s got the best of me. Also, the cover is cute (but maybe not final?), so good job, Antonio Javier Caparo. Thank you, Disney-Hyperion!

Great Discussions/Goings On Around the Blogosphere:

Also, a reminder that I’m not doing my list of ALL the reading and blogging challenges I can find this year.  Here are two other bloggers who’ve created very similar lists:

  1. I was really impressed with what they did with Mean Girls. The music was phenomenal, and the actors I saw were excellent. You would love talking to my daughter after seeing a play, etc. Since she has a BFA in theatre design, she always talks about the design and production when we see plays or even concerts. I was really blown away to be part of such a discussion she had with her peers at SU (I sat quietly). I learned a lot about all that goes on behind the scenes though.

  2. I prefer to be familiar with the music before seeing a show too. I am glad you enjoyed Mean Girls the Musical just the same. It sounds like a fun show. We love the Harry Potter movies. The last time we watched them though, my daughter insisted on watching them out of order. That didn’t make me especially happy. LOL I hope you are able to fit in more writing! Have a great week, Nicole. Enjoy your new books!

  3. I feel like I have so much to comment on this week :).

I can’t wait to hear what you think of Infinity Son. I think Adam is an amazing person, and I am wishing him all the best with his newest book!

I also am intrigued with the fact that Dave Matthews is publishing a book! Whaaaaaat! Curious if this will continue.

I also was in the Harry Potter mood this break, and between Christmas and New Year’s I watched the first 6 movies! It was kind of fun to binge them in that way!

Good luck with the writing of your novel! I’m so excited to see your name in print someday!

    Happy New Year!!

    • I totally agree about Adam. He seems like one of the most genuine people and he’s also just incredibly funny and friendly! (By the way, I just now realized that your NEW blog is linked up to this comment—I can’t believe I missed that you’re blogging again. Welcome back to the blogosphere!!)

  4. Oh nice! I haven’t rewatched the Harry Potter movies in years. I need to do that! I find it’s sooo hard to balance watching TV shows and movies I want to watch from Netflix, Disney+, and my own DVD collection–both new and old! Then there’s wanting to read when I can and blogging and then when there’s finally time to breathe, I’m tired and go to bed! Lol!

Nice new reads too! Lots of new to me ones there but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  5. I’m so curious about Adam Silvera’s next book. That’s awesome you got a copy and I hope you love it!!

Watching Harry Potter movies is always fun, and congrats on finishing your editing job. Good luck with your own writing!

  6. OMG – my 12-year-old daughter listens to the Mean Girls songs all the time. We’d love to actually see the show – glad you enjoyed it 🙂

  7. What a great way to start the year! I love the Mean Girls film and I would be so curious to see how it is adapted for stage. Sounds like you really enjoyed it! I hope going back to working on your own book goes well. And I will be very curious to see what you think of Infinity Son!
