My Goings On in May:
- My daughter turned 13. Another teenager in the house. Yikes!
- I volunteered at the Scholastic warehouse sale and earned LOTS of free books!
- The new swim season has started, so my two older kids (and I) are busy with practices and meets.
- Our house got robbed!
- My daughter won a writing competition for her cute short story!
- I finished the first draft of that new editing project that I’ve been working on.
- I finally started working out again, and watched 13 Reasons Why and The 100 while doing it. (I’ve also been watching Master of None with my mom and my husband, and I watched the first season of The Santa Clarita Diet with my mom.)

My 2017 Reading Progress:
Right now I’m 5 books ahead of my Goodreads goal. Hmmm … maybe I shouldn’t have changed it to 200. I started the month at 11 ahead!

May Best of the Bunch:
(Best of the Bunch is hosted over at Cocoon of Books. We link up our favorite reads of the month!)
This month was kind of tough because I really loved The Names They Gave Us AND the first two books in the Ruined Series. I ended up going with Ruined, but it was really close.

I reviewed five fantasies this month (again, a few are more paranormal or sci-fi dystopian, but I’m counting them since it looks like the people who run the challenge count these types of books).
As of yet, I haven’t read any of Alexa and Rachel’s favorites that I’ve planned to read: Throne of Glass, The Girl of Fire and Thorns, Six of Crows, The Winner’s Curse, Graceling. I’m keeping their pictures here, so I don’t forget about them!

You’ve been busy this month. I’ve been slacking so much on my reading that being 5 books ahead on Goodreads sounds wonderful to me. Happy June!
Yeah, I’m actually pretty happy with where I stand—I’m just second-guessing myself on switching the Goodreads goal. I think I should have just left it so I wasn’t pressuring myself to read more.
Great job on all of your reading goals. I’m quite a bit ahead on Goodreads, but it’s only at 100 so I’m not too surprised. LOL I mainly do the challenge to see how many I read in a year. I’m not to worried about the actual number. 🙂
-Lauren
I don’t know why I changed mine. All it achieves is making me more stressed about making my goal. 🙂
Busy month! I really enjoyed Master of None and hope you guys do too. Good job on being 5 books ahead – that is great. Plus you are doing so well on your challenges!!! Hope you have a great June!!
Master of None is really funny. We just started Season 2.
I loved Ruined too. A really solid second book, that did a great job advancing the series. I need to make sure I am paying attention in December, because that Bookopoly reading challenge looks awesome.

Isn’t the Bookopoly fun? I hope she does it again!
Happy birthday to your daughter! The teenage years haha. And I’m sorry about your house being broken in too! I’m glad no one was hurt! And I’m happy you enjoyed It Starts with Goodbye, looking forward to that!
Hope you have a great June!
I’m already ready to hide away from the teen years. Yikes!
You did awesome! A couple of those I’d like to read. Happy belated to your daughter! Happy June!
Thanks so much, Freda!
Sounds like a great month…except for the getting robbed! How scary! I am so glad that nobody was hurt. I am ahead with my Goodreads Challenge but only because I set my goal pretty low for me at 100 books. I just don’t want to stress over it this year. You read some great books this month. I hope you have a great June!
I honestly have no idea why I upped my goal. I should have just left it and been happy with being far ahead! 🙂
You got ROBBED!? Holy crap. I am so sorry! I just read your post, and wow, it is even scarier that you were home! I am so glad you are all okay, your mom must have been so scared I cannot even imagine. Big hugs to you all ♥♥
Glad that your daughter did so well with her story, that is awesome! And swim season, you know I am here for swim season ?
I am so glad that you are only one season behind with The 100 now. Actually, I am kind of jealous because you will have to suffer through hiatus for shorter time than everyone else 😉 And I find the popularity of the Three Dark Crowns post fascinating! Do people really just want spoilers that bad? I mean, it was a great post, I just wonder what leads everyone to it! Hope you have a lovely June, my dear!
In some ways, it’s bad that I’m so far on The 100, but the fact that I get to pretty much watch two seasons in a row works out nicely for me. And yes, the robbery was pretty scary!!
I like the phrase ‘free books’ *grins* Looks like your challenges are all going pretty well. I’m supposed to be doing series catchups this year and it’s now June so I need to put more effort in! Good luck for June!
Nothing better than free books, right? 🙂
Great job getting back to working out! I can’t watch shows while I work out, but that does sounds like a great idea. You are doing great on all your challenges. I need to catch up on mine.
Watching the shows motivates me to work out—yesterday I only worked out so I could watch the next episode of The 100. 🙂
Cannot believe the story of your been robbed…so scary. I have to say we are always leaving doors unlocked…now I’ll be more careful! Here’s to a less stressful June.
Yeah, we’ve always tried to remember to lock the doors before going to bed, but we never stressed over it—and obviously sometimes we forgot. I think we’ll be better about it now!
Ahh, I just went back and read the post about your house being robbed. That’s awful!! But the story about your daughter winning a writing contest was nice; you definitely have license to be a proud mama for that ^^
Thanks! That was definitely a crazy week filled with lots of ups and downs!
ugh sorry about your house! I hope nothing too valuable got stolen and I hope everyone is ok! YAY I’m two years away from my first teenager! I can’t [yes I can!] wait 🙂 Happy Birthday to your daughter! 🙂 and yay for all those free books. That’s good karma baby You volunteer you get something good in return 🙂 Good luck to all your kids in their meets! I like ALL the nooks you read in May so I’m excited about all your upcoming reviews 🙂
My May reviews are already all posted—if you click on the review link next to the book, you’ll find it. 🙂
The thing about your post that I can’t stop thinking about it that you guys got robbed! I don’t even know how I’d manage to overcome that feeling it would leave me. I hope you guys are okay. Way scary real life stuff. I always love reading your reviews and I can’t wait to read Ruined and it’s sequel now.
It was very scary, and it made us feel unsafe for quite awhile. We’re finally starting to feel back to normal again, but it’s still scary to know it happened.
