My Goings On in June:
- I went to ALA Annual! (Click the link for my recap.)
- We’re dog-sitting my sister-in-law’s cute pup, so my dogs have been having a ball with their new playmate.
- My son and I finished up chemistry, so the kids and I are now on very little school mode (my son is actually at Japanese immersion camp until the 1st).

June Best of the Bunch:
(Best of the Bunch is hosted over at Cocoon of Books. We link up our favorite reads of the month!)
I had a hard time choosing this month, but ended up going with The Winner’s Curse. It probably helped that I got to binge read the whole series!

I reviewed five fantasies this month (again, a few are more paranormal or sci-fi dystopian, but I’m counting them since it looks like the people who run the challenge count these types of books).
And, hey, I finally read one of Alexa and Rachel’s favorites: The Winner’s Curse! I’m keeping the others here to remind me: Throne of Glass, The Girl of Fire and Thorns, Six of Crows, Graceling.

I’m glad you had fun at ALA, and I hope your son is doing well at camp. I’m currently 5 books ahead on my Goodreads goal, too, but who knows how long that will last? Happy July!
He had a fantastic time at camp, thanks!
I really do need to finish reading the Winner’s Trilogy! I loved the first book so much, but haven’t got round to reading The Winner’s Crime or The Winner’s Kiss yet.
I’m glad you’ve had a good month! 🙂
You should definitely keep going!
Throne of Glass did nothing for me, but I really love the other three fantasy series you hope to get to!
Throne of Glass seems to be one of those series that people either adore or are very meh about. I’ll probably try it, though. We shall see…
I hope your son had fun at the immersion camp! It sounds really cool. Great job on all of your reading goals. That’s so awesome! I need to read Winter this year, so I can finally say I’ve finished that series – plus I want to read Stars Above and the graphic novel.

He had a fantastic time!
You are making good progress on the #ShelfLove Challenge. I hope you’ve found some good books hiding on your shelves!
YES! I’m loving reading some of the books that I’ve been meaning to read for forever!
ALA sounds like a lot of fun! I’m 6 books ahead of my Goodreads goal, but that’s only because I started out really strong in January and have been coasting a little ever since. Need to get back on the reading wagon! Immersion camp sounds cool, so hope your son has a great time! Hope you all have a happy July!
I was way ahead on my goal for a while (like 12 books ahead) and then last month I slipped a bit. But now I’m holding steady, which works for me.
Wow! You had a lot going on this month. I must admit, I admire homeschooling moms. I’m hoping to read the The Sun is Also a Star. Hope your month of July is just as awesome.
I really enjoy homeschooling most of the time, but I’ll admit that there are days that I’m TIRED! 🙂
So many highly-rated books in June! That’s awesome! I need to step it up on my Shelf Love challenge. Too many new releases are sneaking in. 🙂
It’s a constant uphill battle, right?
Happy July!
Thanks, Freda!
Yay for staying ahead of your GR reading challenge. That has to be a great feeling. I never set one for myself, though why I don’t know. 🙂 Glad to see you read Nicola’s book! I just picked that one up and in the aftermath of “Everything, Everything,” I’m hoping I really like this one too. 🙂
I think I liked the new book just as much as I liked Everything, Everything. Hope you do too!
I haven’t yet read my copy of “Roar”! I’ll have to get to that!
I really enjoyed it!!
The Winner’s Kiss!! I recently had the cover in my head and wanted to look up the book, but I could not at all remember the title or author. “It’s red or purple? Looking down on a girl in a dress with a sword?” Thanks for letting me know 😉
I’ve had that happen from time to time—glad I could help you out!
Woohoo for Winner’s Curse being the big winner for last month! I’m planning on binge reading that series, hopefully next month, so I’m happy to hear how much you loved it. Here’s hoping July is just as wonderful for you!
That’s what I did—the best way to read a series, in my opinion.
isn’t it just GREAT to be ahead of your Goodreads goals?? 🙂 I really enjoyed your two ALA posts 🙂 Oh your reviews Royal Bastards?? ok off to see that! [finish Lunar Chronicles! :)]
I know I need to finish Lunar Chronicles—I don’t know what’s taking me so long! (Actually, I do—I have most of the books in paperback, and for some reason the last book hasn’t come out in paperback that I can find, so I haven’t bought them yet.)
ALA sounds so much fun and someday I will go and I will take pictures :). I want to go to Japanese immersion camp! I’m trying to learn more about Japanese culture, language, and history on my own as someday I want to travel to Japan and enjoy the food and sights and shopping.
We have our Japanese exchange student here now (he came yesterday), and it’s fun to learn about his experiences.
Well done with your reading challenge progresses!
Thanks so much!
